00:00 Hey guys, it's Temple. I'm here with Galen and Joe and we're talking today about all of our trials that we got out here for the field day 00:06 here, um, out here in Maryland. So what do we got here? Temple? Didn't you apply these? Don't you know how many Actually, I, I did. 00:14 So we got six, so last year we had four, and this year Stephanie decided to step it up and wanted me to put on six. 00:20 So it just makes my job just a little bit harder. But you know, we, we, we accommodated her. We accommodated her. But so this is what we had this year. 00:28 So we did multiple different applications, so we did, of course I'm a big high phosphorus guy. Yep. You know, and I don't know if you agree with that 00:36 or not agree with that. We've had those arguments before. I'm a SRUs upfront guy, 00:40 but what we're looking here is applications that aren't all upfront. Yeah. So what I started 00:45 to look at over the last few years, and especially this year, I started looking at, Hey look, what are we gonna do that we can save money? 00:52 So we, maybe we don't put as much f phosphorus down up front. Maybe we can spoon feed it throughout the year. Yeah. 00:58 So we kind of figured that out. I felt like we figured that out last year. So this year that's what we're doing. 01:04 So that's how this program was designed. So once at pollination. Yep. Um, and then we came back and we did another one. 01:11 A single shot at Yeah. At uh, brown Silk and then we're going to double them and we're gonna do, um, phosphorus 01:20 and potassium at both times. At both times. That's correct. At brown silk and, and the pollination. 01:24 That's correct. So we kind of teamed it up. We did a bunch of different, different applications to try to find that perfect window. Yeah. 01:31 And I think the plus are relevant and, and Joe deals with this a lot out here, kind of in this neck of the woods. 01:37 Uh, you know, you guys are a little more under the microscope with how you handle your nutrients out here. But I think one point you brought up Temple that's relevant 01:44 to everyone, regardless of geography, is, uh, that timing of phosphorus, can we delay it a little bit? 01:51 We've dealt with some higher interest rates the last few years, unfortunately right now a little bit lower commodity 01:56 prices and sometimes that guy being able to kick that application down the road a little bit, uh, helps. Maybe it'll save, save a little interest 02:05 or maybe even just lets him look at and go, Hey, it was my corn level by Hurricane Debbie. Yeah. 02:10 Or it was a situation like as far as like some of our dry land, um, farms that we got, of course we're here in irrigated, 02:17 but as far as our dry land, Joe, you know what it's like up to Pennsylvania and a bunch of different places that you, 02:22 that you take care of. It's been so dry that cutting that cost in the beginning and having the ability to say, no, 02:29 I'm not gonna make that next pay. And we see it all the time. We'll see a lot of phosphorus in the soil and it's not getting in the plant. 02:35 We talk about availability all the time. So availability is about what you can get into that plant. So sometimes that phosphorus is tied up, 02:42 it's dry, it's not releasing. So this is just a way to see if we can drive some available nutrients, phosphorus, and then potassium 02:48 calcium into that plant. And back to the economics piece, I think that's a great, great point with what, you know, the commodity prices are 02:56 that you need to be spending on money, on products, nutrients. They're gonna pay you back this year. 03:01 We don't need to be making investments. They're gonna pay back 2, 3, 4 years in this scenario. Well, the one thing that I wanna know, 03:08 it seems like I get a better response sometimes, sometimes when I don't put all the phosphorus up on Yeah. And I make that application to the plant. Yeah. 03:16 You know what I mean? And, and it gets, and it pulls the right directly into plan. I feel like I'm not wasting SRUs Right. 03:22 Or I'm not aiding to this bank. Right. That I can't, can't even, I can't even make turn on. Absolutely. Yeah. It's a great debate. You always have. 03:30 I always say I like to manage your crop inside out, which is a sole application. You're managing an outside in. 03:36 And look, that's why we do these plots is to find out what is the best way to approach that. Yeah. So, I mean, I don't know. 03:44 I mean, I, I feel like through the plot, when you go through these different trials, I really do feel like everyone that we stepped up, I feel like it gets better. 03:53 Yeah. And better and better all the way through. Um, keep in mind now there was zero dry fertility put on this farm. 04:01 Yeah. Done. There's been, there was no p and there was no K put on this farm at all. So knowing that I didn't put any dry fertility on Yeah. 04:10 And knowing that I could feed the plant and I still have it look like this looks great. Yeah. I felt like, I'm not saying that it, 04:16 I could do that every year. Yeah. But a year, like what we had and what maybe 20, 25 Yeah. 04:22 Could be setting up to today. Exactly. It might be something to think about. Yeah. I think Temple is timely 04:26 and, uh, we appreciate you doing these, uh, for us. Uh, you know, hopefully, especially in this geography, Joe can take this information and, 04:34 and the growers kind of up and down the eastern seaboard can utilize that information. But again, economics is gonna apply all 04:41 across the country next year. You better believe it. So we're gonna let you guys know exactly how these plots are gonna, um, pan out. 04:48 Uh, I'm rooting for the one on the other side that's got, like the full send package, 04:54 but, uh, we'll, we'll let you know soon.
