Hey y'all, this is Chad Henderson with Extreme Ag and we're gonna talk to you just a second about strip tilling.
00:00:05
You know, we do been doing some strip tilling for, I don't know, six or seven years now, and we are no professional at it,
00:00:11
but we are getting better, that's for sure. A couple things we are figuring out is how much fertilizer to you use?
00:00:16
We're running by our soil test and we just keep bringing that rate down. Not saying that we don't need to be using dry fertilizer,
00:00:24
but what we are saying is there's a balance and that balance consists of a dry fertilizer blend, a liquid blend, and the micronutrients
00:00:32
that you need in that zone. And that's where we're at. We're putting it in that zone, and as you can see, we're following
00:00:40
behind double crop wheat and beans. So we plant wheat in the fall and then we come back and plant the double crop beans on it.
00:00:48
So we got a nice mat of material out here and then we just run the strip to in it. So we took our rope cleaners off the strip till so
00:00:55
that we can hold some of the material and some of the straw in that zone for the overwintering. Not to get too much taken away.
00:01:02
The ground's pretty flat right here in this field that we're running, but we're running about six inches deep, laying a good pretty bed out there.
00:01:10
And we've got about a hundred to 150 pounds of fertilizer in here. Little bit of dap, little bit of km mag
00:01:16
because we're low end mag here. Then we got a good load of zinc in it. So this is a good place to put the zinc in
00:01:22
because it's the cheapest kind of cheaper form of zinc and that we can put it right in this band. So it'll over winter in there.
00:01:29
But, um, anyway, y'all stay tuned. We'll keep strip tilling videos coming. Happy Harvest, happy holidays,
