Enhancing Crop Health with Manganese for Better Photosynthesis and Plant Structure
18 Sep 242m 27s

The essential role of manganese as a micronutrient in crop health, particularly in photosynthesis and plant structure development. Manganese contributes to cell wall formation, improving plant rigidity and overall strength. In cooler, wetter soil conditions, farmers often add manganese to in-furrow systems to boost plant performance and help prevent deficiencies, which can lead to weaker plant structures.

00:04 Manganese is one of a micronutrient. It's important in photosynthesis process. It's also important in structure. 00:12 It is important in the formation malignant, which is basically self structure. So plant structure, everything supports stiffness, 00:20 is very important with manganese. Here's the reason that we use manganese. So in our soil type, we're generally cooler. 00:28 We're generally wetter. We add manganese with the mn, not magnesium mg. We use that because it helps with photosynthesis, right? 00:39 When it's cool and wet and expecting to rain, those kind of things. I'll add a little bit more manganese to my in furrow system. 00:47 And the reason that I do that is because I'm trying to get a little bit of a jumpstart, gonna try to power pack that plant. 00:53 It just helps it photosynthesize better than if it had a deficiency, right? So it'll get it over that curve, over that hump. 01:03 If you're deficient manese, you might get a droopy plant or a little less structural strength. 01:08 So that's what guys probably that are deficient or looking for is that boosting overall strength of their cell walls and plant structure. 01:18 Everybody knows about glyphosate and how you get that yellow flash in glyphosate. 90% of the time that yellow flash in glyphosate is 01:27 because glyphosate will tie up manganese in the plant, and that's where the yellow flash is coming from. So a couple of things that we do, 01:36 so we can alleviate the yellow flash, one boy at a PGR, like, uh, you know, a certain type PGR. The reason that boy that is, is it helps 01:47 with a yellow flash, but we'll also add a point of manganese one we're spraying or herbicide program with glyphosate. 01:54 That way we don't ever feel that effect. Um, and we don't ever lose days of sunlight. Days of sunlight lost are, that is yield 02:04 and I don't ever want a hole in my leaf. I don't ever want my leaf to not be a bright, beautiful solar panel 02:12 because without those, you can't make up days of sunlight and photosynthesis. 02:18 You can't make them back up once you've lost them. It's too late.
