Temple from XtremeAg shares how he optimized his farm nutrient strategy by simplifying planter fertility application. By switching to a low-maintenance fertility system, he reduced downtime, improved efficiency, and eliminated costly repairs during planting season.

00:00:00 Hey guys, it's Temple from Extreme Ag. Um, it seems like, uh, I've been seeing a lot of stuff on, uh, social media here lately about, you know, guys 00:00:08 that wanna change some stuff on their planers, you know, um, you know, and we always had that one simple thing, you know, 00:00:14 keep it simple, stupid, you know, I shouldn't say it like that, but, you know, something 00:00:19 that I got away from years ago was, you know, when we started putting on Tupa two, we've been putting on Tupa two for years, 00:00:26 but, you know, I want to get away from the displays, the bearings, the gauge wheels, you know, the ability where you hit a rock and it kind of slides stuff over 00:00:34 and next thing you know, you're putting a hot Tupa two mix, you know, too close to the seed. 00:00:39 And we were having areas where it would, you know, we would have trouble in those areas. The seed would never come up. 00:00:45 And it's because those kind of things, it's just too much mechanics going on there and too many things that are happening. 00:00:51 And we were constantly maintaining those. So, um, long time ago we started doing some trials on taking those planters and taking that off 00:01:01 and actually putting fertility right out the back of the planter and applying it on top to ground. We always thought that, you know, nitrogen 00:01:08 and re oil needed to be two inches in the ground. We didn't, we thought that we were gonna lose a lot. Well, we did some trials where it was side by side 00:01:16 where we did half the planter and the other half the planter, you know, we left it the same. 00:01:21 After a couple years of doing that, trialing it, we never saw any results. Like one wasn't any better than the other one either way. 00:01:27 So we kind of got away from actually getting it in the soil, two inches and two inches over. 00:01:32 Um, and we went to something that was really, really simple. I built these units here for the back of our planters. 00:01:39 You know, it's very simple. Your check valve is right here. It puts a wide drop out, you know, 00:01:44 that's right behind the planter. And we just took it right from our original hose that was up on our planters and we ran it right back. 00:01:50 So we actually had these on all 15 inch, all my 15 inch rows and everything. So we do our entire planters. 00:01:56 Um, it's made it really, really simple. This, you know, especially this, this unit right here that's on this planter, it's outlasted multiple planters. 00:02:05 We've had 'em for years. There's, there's no wear parts in 'em. So, you know, again, kiss, keep it simple, stupid. 00:02:12 It just seems like one of them things, it kind of takes that out where you're never having trouble with it. And you know, time is money 00:02:19 and I'm tired of changing parts, so I kind of quit changing parts. 00:02:23.265 --> 00:02:24.525
