We want it to be interactive. And this is a great example of where interactivity is going to help make you some money. 'cause we've got a lot of different phases going on. Todd Kemal joins us. He is from about 70 miles south of Dallas. We call him Texas Todd Kimbrel. He's got crops already up. So we're talking about kickstarting your crop, dialing in your early season. Fertility. It's agronomics, it's also farming practices, and it's more importantly economics. We know that we're in a very difficult, challenging year economically at the farm. We also need to admit that with the situation going on globally, there's gonna be some possible supply strains. We saw this in 2018 during the whole trades battle. We saw it in 20 20, 21. Are you gonna be able to get your inputs? We're seeing it again right now. This reality might mean that you need to be thinking very proactively about the fertility and the crop inputs, and this might factor into it. Very likely you already have your supplies ready to go for early for spring, but if not, ask your questions. We do want this to be interactive. Remember, you can go and type in your questions in the chat section. I'm joined by not only Texas Todd Kimber, but also Nelson Rentz. Nelson Rentz is an extreme ag member. He's been on an episode of Cutting the Curve with me. He farms in Oklahoma, and he's going to give you a perspective from his angle. Clint Freeze Western Illinois, um, has a, a company he's invi with calibrated agronomy. He's gonna give you your agronomic expertise. And of course, Kelly Garrett, founder of Extreme Mag Willow. Let's start things off kick-starting your crop, dialing in early season fertility. I asked you before we hit the record and opened up the audience here, Clint, what are the big mistakes that you think too many producers? We're not saying most, we're not gonna paint, you know, uh, broad brushes here, too many producers. In your opinion as a crop advisor, as a farmer yourself, too many producers make a mistake early season when it comes to fertility. What do they do wrong? Well, I think first and foremost, um, ground conditions is, is number one for me. I, I've been, uh, guilty of this. I see other farmers rush to the field and just 'cause their field's ready. Doesn't necessarily mean the ground you're farming is dependent on. If there's different management practices associated with that. So for number one for me is weight and plant it, right? I think, uh, especially out of the gate and when we talk, you know, Todd's already planting, but for our area early April, um, if ground conditions are right, we roll even on the cooler side. But mistakes I've made that's cost me the most is when it's a little damp or we, we call it the 70 30 rule. 70% good, 30 is bad. I think out of that, uh, early April window, we should wait. There's a time to, to rush ahead On the 70 30 rule, you know, you get late May, June, you better be rolling, um, on a wet spring. But weight and planet rights number one, two, uh, yield the foundational start, um, weight and plant it right. Kind of leads into number two for me. I, uh, I've always tried to put more money into my crop where it's struggling, and that is a bad thing to do in my mind. The more acres we get to work with, with calibrated and extreme ag on my own personal farm, I think you push your best acre. That's where you put more money into your crop. My budget changes accordingly on how even my stand comes up, um, and how that start takes off. And number three, this is, uh, really in conjunction with extreme ag calibrated. What we've been learning on SAP testing, uh, what the plant really wants in that early window, um, is, is PK, uh, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur. And from a micro perspective, zinc and copper. So from a yield all the way up to, to, uh, 310 in our dataset, that has been a very big trend. We see that correlates very well to yield. So I wouldn't skimp out of the gate yields built from the ground up, meaning I think, uh, you don't want that crop to start out weak. You want it to be strong right out of the gate. That is very important to final yield. All right. I think that we can just probably take those three points and anybody that wants to hop in here, ground conditions, plant it, right? Uh, you understand the enthusiasm these farmers been sitting around all winter. They, and also the worst part then when the neighbor drives by with the planting rig, oh my God, we gotta go. We gotta go. 'cause the neighbor's going, you know, the coffee shop talks gonna start. But I've seen that a lot. Obviously Northeast Indiana I live, it's, it's, we, it's cool. But they, they look at the calendar and they see that somehow it's April 28th. That means you gotta do it is May 3rd. It means you gotta plant because the neighbors are, and, uh, it also means you, you lose a lot of yield. I understand that. Spending on a bad acre, I think what I heard there was tossing bad money after good. You know, there's only so much you can do on early season fertility, and I guess there's only so much potential for that. And then obviously you talked about the fertility that's needed up front, PKS, zinc, copper. Anybody wanna grab that and go with it? You want me to ask another question? I would, I would tell you that. Well, I agree with everything Clint said and what I would add, and it was the, it was one of the biggest sins that I made is I put too many things in my, in furrow and they created, all they created was vegetation. They didn't create yield. And so to me, that's wasted money. And I've learned that from the sap. We've learned that from yield tests, you know, uh, things like that. And so, you know, with the ag economy being tough the way it is and things like that, we've been very hard on everything that we've put up front, you know, and I, my, my soil's different than Todd's, it's different than Nelson's and things like that. Um, and we've really paired it down and it, it's a very bare bones inferral mix this year. It, I thought it was bare bones in 25, and we've even pared it down more for 26. And the reason is, all of those things, Damien, that we had in there, all of that money we were spending, a lot of it was breaking even. Mm-hmm. May, maybe there was a little return, but it was breaking even. So what I would add to Clint is make sure what's going in that inferral. Make sure it's paying an ROI And of course you, you say, well, I don't know that when planner's running, but if you have enough years of experience, you're gonna start realizing, like you said, vegetative growth. Well, you gotta get it. It's got, it's, that's the only choice is vegetative growth. You gotta get it outta the ground. So I, I mean, I think, well, When I say vegetative growth, I will tell you that the corn with the inferral mix I had previously is prettier. It's prettier, but does it yield more? It's gotta yield more. I mean, you know, and, and, and so a lot of times I'd be, boy, it's dark green, and boy, it looks nice, and the popup fertilizer and all those things that people say, is there a yield at the end? And, and for me, there was not. And so I took a lot of those things out. I took, I took a lot of things out that I had originally in there. Todd, you've got corn already up in Texas. Everybody in Nebraska is all excited about this. They like seeing that. They're kind of now thinking they need to get out. And you just, you just did the exact thing I talked about. You just drove the planting rig by their farm. So now they're all gonna just, they're gonna get out and start rolling some experimental acres tomorrow. What'd you get right this year you think for your beginning, your beginning of season fertility based on a mistake you might have made a few years ago? So we've been watching soil samples and PD l tests really close, and we're never like, super deficient or moderately deficient in potassium, but we've noticed a correlation to lower levels of, of potassium to lower yield. So I decided to add potassium in my starter this year, and, uh, pretty excited about it. We did a little bit last year and saw a little bit of gain, but we've tweaked it a little bit this year. And I just think it's all about balance. I mean, everybody, well, everybody around here wants to put P in furrow, so I think it's a little more than p you know, try some potassium and, and obviously some micros. I put up a, a bigger micro pack in this year, so I'm really excited. Our stand's good. The, the backdrop behind me is the pictures, uh, from 15 minutes ago. So that's, that's the early corn we planted. I mean, it's, it's off and running. It looks good. Conditions are good. Hopefully it stays that way. What About the situation that Todd talked about, or sorry, Clint Freeze talked about on ground conditions. Uh, did you jump the gun? It was February, no soil temperature, soil temperatures hovering around about 39. And you decided to go ahead and jump the gun just to prove to your neighbors? Nope, they were 65 and we should have been planting harder. We, we, we didn't do very much. And looking back, I wish we'd have planted a lot more. We got the rest planted now, but man, it was really prime when we were planting it. I, I mean, it was the earliest we'd ever planted, so it was hard to keep going. But looking back, I kind of wish we would've kept going. Yeah. Well obviously you did you what you did worked, by the way, does soil temperature ever actually get to 39 where you are? Very rarely. We, our ground very rarely freezes. It will freeze, but just, I've only seen it maybe two or three times ever. Nelson rents everything that, uh, Clint said. You pretty much on with that. Yeah, I think so. The first, like he said, conditions are the important thing. I mean, your planter's a planter, not a tillage tool. So if you don't have a good seed bed or you're starting off on the wrong foot, it doesn't matter what you put in furrow two by two, anything the rest of the year isn't gonna make up for a poor planning job. What about the spending on a bad acre? Do you, do you go out there, do you like look over and say at your neighbor Galen beer and say, I'm glad I'm farming better acres. I wouldn't even bother with those. Do you ever say anything like that? Not unless he's farming. He might in here, If he's farming his dry land like he is as irrigated, I'd be a little suspicious then He's probably not. All right. What'd you do this? What are you gonna do this year on the stuff that Clint talked about, laying it out there, PKS, zinc, copper, and then uh, a micro pack like Todd talked about. What's your prescription for your early season fertility and how are you dialing it in to make sure you don't break the bank? All of the above. I mean, a balanced diet is always the best one, and we, you can always put too much. So we've tried to moderate that a little bit, but we're also putting some hum mix and, uh, growth regulators and some other things in there to try to get a jump on the season too. You know, we're where we're at, we can be planning whenever it's a little bit colder and whatever we can do to, to get that germinated and going and give it a boost always seems to help us. Are you spending less money this year than you did last year on early season fertility because of the commodity price situation? I guess the one thing we are doing is in furrow, I guess it'd be a seed treatment, but we're putting Pivot Bio on, 'cause that's cheaper for 40 units of nitrogen than synthetic is. So that would be the big change Put in furrow, uh, something that's gonna allow you to use less nitrogen throughout the season. Mm-hmm. Less synthetic. Yep. Would you run the numbers on that? Yeah, it's about $10 an acre, I think, and it's gone up since then, so It's more, and I'll save you how much on nitrogen? About $10 an acre savings, but Nitrogen's gone up since I figured that, so it's probably closer to 15. Okay. And that's net that's net after the cost of the Pivot bio product? Yeah, I think so, yeah. Got it. All right, Kelly, uh, I want to go into this other thing. Since you, you are arguably one of the most experienced here based on your age. For those that are tuning into this, you should realize that his youngest son, kale, known as cheese Garrett, just told Kelly today it might be time for him to retire and get out of the way. So that's where, that's, that's the kind of day he's coming off of at age 51. His, his kid, his 22-year-old kids. Tell him to get the hell outta the way. Yeah. Cheese won't go on the webinar for some reason. He's too busy. Yeah, Yeah. He's too busy. Uh, mistake you made on early season fertility, you talked about vegetative growth and concentrated on that. But here's the thing, you don't know any of that, I would think, 'cause I'm not the farmer here, I would be all about getting root development. Everybody gets excited about the pretty stand and all that. Oh man, that corn's come here, I would think all about root, root development, but I don't know what, what do I do? What would I do if I want to make sure that I get the best early season and you're in the Midwest and these other guys are in different areas. What would you do that you didn't do three years ago to really make sure that things pop right? I would wait that extra day. We have, uh, in 25, we did a better job in 24. I was worried about the long-term forecast, things like that. And exactly what Clint said, the 70 30 rule. There were times I was probably pushing it hard enough. It was probably more of a 60 40 rule, and I was pushing it hard enough because I was worried about the forecast and things like that, and I was worried about it being too wet. And so, yeah, I, I flew way past 70 30 and I was probably at 60 40 and I pushed it too hard. And so the, the soil has to be right, and I would rather plant corn on May 25th than plant corn on May 5th and have it be too wet. I can tell you that I learned that and my older son Vern told me that I was dumb when I was doing it, and he was right. So maybe I am in the way now that I'm over 50. Oh, wow. Listen to that. All right. Roots versus popup Clint, I'm not the agronomist here. How do I, because everything that comes up in Todd's picture is, it looks pretty, but, uh, to have that kind of a pretty look, does that mean the roots are good? Or is there a time when maybe you're not getting the right root development? Because all parts of the world, especially where these two guys where it's can turn dry, if the roots aren't there and you don't do the right fertility job early on, you're gonna suffer by July when it turns dry. Yeah, I think the, uh, whether you look at fertility or biology, carbon, uh, different hormones, uh, products that are on the market, there's a lot of different ways to enhance root development. Um, but nutrition is still king. I mean, when the, when the plant has nutrition, and we have a pretty good microbiology in general, a lot of the corn belt has pretty good microbiology. I think that's one of the cool things about getting to see all of extreme ags data, getting to see all of calibrated data. We kind of got some insights and a lot of people talk, oh, our soil's dead. Well, our soil ain't dead. I think what we're, what we're doing is testing our soil from a biological perspective and nutritional and saying, what is the weak links? What, where, where are, what nutrition are we lacking in or is getting tied up with other antagonisms in the soil and what's our missing link? And I, you know, and to, to Nelson's point, I think that's a, a great idea with the nitrogen fixation of, of, um, nitrogen when this cost of nitrogen's gotten so high. Lots of ways to do it. One of the things I think that, uh, a lot of farmers can utilize is work with orthotics. You know, they're working with extreme ag, uh, in a big way. And, and with calibrated, I think we can pull some tests and figure out what our limiting factor is from a biological perspective before we spend a dollar. You know, that's, that's my big takeaway as we've pulled more of those, is we have strengths from a biological perspective that enhance that route that you're talking about. And let's find a product that where we're lacking in our, our own environment. So for me, it's a a little bit of testing. We measure, uh, we figure out where our strengths, our weaknesses are, and then we go. And that's, that's been a, a big, uh, I think a way to save money in these tight economic times. Don't guess, measure it and then go find what really fits your farm. All right. Let's talk about money and then we're gonna do, make sure that the audience, and by the way, if you have a question, type it in into chat, and we wanna make sure we get this as interactive as possible. We know we got all kinds of different people from different parts of the world that tune into our extreme ag webinars. We'll make sure this is useful and applicable to you, to your farming operation this spring, early season. Fertility. Does it mean just planting at time of planting? And Todd, I want you to take that, or is there, does that mean the stuff you did a month before planting? Incidentally, our friend with this company probably would, like if you talked about the potassium product you put in over there, Todd. Yeah, so I ran this year, I ran potassium acetate from nature, so Kfl max with ic. So, uh, that was a little different for us this year. I'm, I'm excited about it. I know it's got to help the balance in my really my high calcium soil. So, uh, we're excited about it. That, that just gives me more balance, I think. I think we've been farming a little too out of balance here from what I'm figuring out. And I'm excited about throwing these other products in. I think think it's taken us down the right path, honestly. Tell you what, budget, budget, since we're talking about dialing in your early fertility, early season fertility, the person watching this, they're gonna say, okay, what about the, what do I need to do? And what's, and give me your recommendation. Well, I'm, I'm a corn farmer. I wanna know. Well, I mean, compare it to, to dry potash, I mean, it's a no brainer. You're putting in the right spot and you're much more efficient with the uptake of this form of potassium. So I mean, swap those dollars and be more efficient, you'll probably get more yield out it that I, I'm certain you're gonna get more yield out of it if you need potassium. So that's the way, that's the way I'm headed. I'm gonna do that on cotton as well. Potassium aate versus dry pot ash money, you save money or you spend the same amount, just use it differently. I'm saving money the way we're doing it now by A lot. It's lot of money. Kelly goes with money. Todd, Todd's 90%, your 90% cal base saturation calcium, right, Todd? 95 to 97%? Yes. And and what, and what is your, what's your, what's your potassium base saturation About 1.5, 1.7? Yeah, I think, uh, in my opinion, uh, Todd Todd's decision, there is a no brainer. And putting dry potassium on that sort of soil is going to yield a very little ROI coming back with, coming back with nature's potassium acetate every time he goes across the field is, is a wise decision. He needs to spoon feed that potassium. I mean, Todd, you know, Todd's highly successful. He knows what he's doing. And, uh, I I I think that's, I think it's a huge, a huge win. Well, I think the dry, I think the dry pot ash is tied up before we get the spreader outta the field, so I, yeah, a hundred percent. So I, I think it's a no brainer. I don't even, honestly, from what I've learned, I don't even think you can compare the two Now. I, uh, I never thought that I had met anyone that had a worse base saturation calcium problem than myself. So I met Todd and now he, Todd set a new level for me. So I'm the second worst base saturation calcium person. I know Todd's the one. All right. Nelson, you're, you're one of the younger people out here. What'd you do wrong in the early season fertility that you've corrected? And what's your advice to the person watching this right now? I, I wanna know about products. I wanna know about practices, I wanna know about timing, I wanna know about money, whatever you got. I'm gonna, I'm gonna just, I'm sitting here, I'm a sponge. I think the first thing that I've kind of picked up, and this has been several years ago, but we always run a little bit of water in with our starter and we get a more consistent stream coming out and instead of s***s on the seed, and I think if you get a big splash of concentrated on the seed that hurts its germ where if you put a little water in it and get a consistent band, that always helps. But, um, I guess we're the opposite of Todd and Kelly. We have super high mag in places 30, 35%. So we're tying up phosphorus, like it's going outta style and just placing some of that starter in a band right there by the seat. I think we get our availability and, uh, are more efficient in that way also. So you don't have an imbalance, you have an imbalance with the other direction. Does it change what you put in at the, at at early season? Yeah, it does. We, you know, we're strip tilling right now. We're putting sulfur in that strip. We're banding our phosphorus there too. But we're also trying to either dry spread some a MS or elemental sulfur just to try to help flush out some of that excess and make our phosphorus more available, is the main thing. I think that's our limit more, more so than any other nutrient right now. Anybody wanna add on that? Because I'm gonna take a question from Dave. Clint, you got anything? I would like to add something, uh, application point on the planter on infer stuff to me is, is really important. I mean, we're running a little y splitter on a, on a seed firmer and splitting it around the seed. I'm glad Nelson brought that up, splitting it on the sides of the seed. I've seen a little better results out of that. Plus, I mean, I'm already running a seed firmer anyway. I would highly recommend looking into that form of application. It's worked really well for us. And how I can prove it's worked is we've done really high rates on cotton and not burned the seed. So that tells me that that's a great test for any starter that is really working. So really take a look at the, where the application point on that planter. I guess the flip side is we, we dribble it right on top through the seed firmer and still have little to no issue, but we also put insecticide in for rootworm and stuff like that. So you're, I feel like we're getting a good coating on it that way. And same thing, we, we do the same with cotton, but cut it with water and a ic and still seems to be fairly safe for on the seed. You can comment on this when farmers start telling you how they're doing it, do you, are you, is it hard for you not to want to correct them? It is, isn't it? Like you want to jump in and say, yeah, that's okay, Todd Nelson. But you know what? I think it's hard for you, isn't it? Like, you always feel like it's kind of like you're like the English teacher of agronomics. You know, the the wonderful thing about agriculture is it's humbling. So I don't, I don't, I don't usually don't feel that way, but I, I just wanna add to Todd's point, you know, I think a lot of times, um, we've been ingrained that we don't have flexibility. We've gotta apply maintenance or maintenance and build rates to grow a crop. And from what I've seen, I've, I've, I really think that's false. I mean, there's all sorts of ground that, that some of it, you know, in light sand, it really needs, needs some fertility to it. But there most of our ground is pretty forgiving. We can go a year or two ultra efficient, go to some end season apps or in furrow and, and grow a heck of a crop without the next requirements to, uh, to grow it. And so flexibility is key. You have it. I think all farmers have it. It's just finding out what your flexibility is on your farm. I got a question from Dave Grassle, I hope I'm saying that name correctly. Dave asked, is zinc a must have in furrow for corn and soybeans? Go around the horn. Kelly, you first, do you need zinc? I think that you're the one that said you pulled samples and was it you or Argo? Go ahead. You know, Clint Clint's one of the agronomists at calibrated agronomy, but this is, this is a question I can answer. So I I would love to have this one. We have 4,000 SAP samples within our calibrated agronomy IP intellectual property. We've never, we have yet to pull one that is sufficient in zinc. So the answer I would be is a resounding yes. Zinc needs to go on every time you go across the field. Clin, did I do a good job? You did. I think you know that he's, he's right. I mean, it's deficient in all samples. And I'll, I'll just leave you at this. Have I seen, um, really good corn without application of zinc? Absolutely. But one thing about it, once when you get over 270 bushel corn, um, if zinc is not adequate, you'll never get there. Um, so that I think, you know, it really depends on, so think about your farm, where you're at for a yield goal, what the output is, you know, it's a loaded question, but, uh, zinc is critical to get to a higher, higher yield level, no doubt. All right. Go around the horn. Nelson. Yes. Todd Zinc. Yeah, we never, never put corn in the ground without zinc and furrow. Uh, I don't think I've ever not put it out. Nelson Zinc. Yeah, We're pounds of zinc, like probably six or eight a year on really good corn ground instead of what's the average? One or two, maybe. All right. And Kelly says, put out zinc at every pass. There should be zinc in the zinc in the sprayer load when you go out at your herbicide pass and your second herbicide pass your fungicide pass, whatever. Right? Well, you know, uh, Nelson's CECs are different than mine. And so to put on dry zinc for me, it gets tied up in the soil, makes it hard to be available. So we choose to fully feed it or plant or apply it, and we just apply. We fully apply it throughout the season. All right. I got another question. I hope Dave, by the way, if that did not get you what you wanna know, what I think I heard was a resounding yes. Uh, yes. That, uh, put zinc in and you're putting that in Forrow, and then I, it comes a, it's a liquid product. And then is that usually in a micro pack, Todd, or do you need to do, do you need to accentuate, is a micro pack of zinc not enough? Uh, both. I mean, the one I'm running now, crop max, it, it's got enough in it at the rate we're running. So that's the way I'm doing before I have had to supplement though. Okay. And at Garrett land and cattle, since you saw the 4,000 samples that none of 'em had enough zinc, are you doing above and beyond what the micro pack is or you just think the micro pack and then dribbling it out again in June and July is adequate? In the, uh, in the, in, in forrow fertility, there's just a zinc product in like post chem. It's a micro pack. Got it. Anybody else got anything on the zinc? All right, Ryan asked the Thanks Dave. And by the way, go ahead and hop in again. Ryan asked, is anyone running a Chitin product in furrow for Rootworm or nematode control? If you are, is anyone seeing success or failure with it? Chitin based products? Uh, I think that'd be like the stuff that we did at my farm with the tidal. Yes. What tidal grow seafood, uh, derivatives. I think they mean it, it's Zen. Yeah, Tzen and, uh, we're, we're looking at seed treating our soybeans for that. We don't, uh, have in furrow on our soybeans anymore. Uh, didn't pay, uh, but I'll tell you the tidal Grove products that were at on Damien's Field Day, it was a, apparently Damien might have some nematode problems in his ground because that product showed a 20 bushel yield gain. And it's really exciting and we're looking at it on my farm this year. Yeah, true story. Granted, we all know here, Ryan, that I'm not the real farmer. If you ever doubt that, ask the extreme ag guys, they'll tell you. But we did do the field day with Tyler Grove. That's their seafood byproducts that they did. Uh, Galen was there, that's, uh, Nelson's neighbor. And we did one, one plot that was just a controlled soybean. And the very next plot, all it had was the TLO grow seed treatment, and it was a 20 bushel bump. It went from, and it was, it, it is substantial. Like we, the, the one that had the ne problem was still around 60 bushels, then we went to about 80, uh, on the next one. So, but that's not in furrow. So does anybody got experience with a Chitin chitin product? Inf furrow? Yeah, I think, um, so there's, there, there is chiton and chi to sand. So chiton has to be broke down microbially before it turns into chi to sand. The ending result is you, you want it to be chita sand. So the most effective, and I think title grows onto this, I mean, you gotta be able to move China to sand through the profile. So, um, you know, a surfactant base in there is important. Um, and it is highly effective. A lot of the universities miss the mark on this because it takes bio biology to make China to sand work. And what I mean by like, so a lot of the universities when they test this, these chito sand products at the level, they nuke all biology with a fumigant first, then they apply a chito sand and say, well, it didn't work. Um, from an efficacy standpoint, it works, uh, no doubt, um, it, you can use it effectively as a seed treatment in furrow. If you got high levels, it may take a couple shots to really get that, those communities of microbes that fight nematodes built down. The other area of caution is when you spray it in a foliar, there's a lot of people spraying chito sand in foliar right now. It can be effective, but it, uh, enhances plant defense. So be modest with your rate, don't tank mix with other pg other, uh, products. You would want that to be a standalone type deal. But, uh, a lot of cool things, I think to come with Trian. Thanks, Ryan. I think we got that San is the Southern Illinois dialect. It's, we've been informed by the Title Girl people. It's actually Kit Ofan, just Kit of sand. Okay. Yeah, thanks Will. Yeah, I don't wanna get in trouble. Well, I mean it is their product and the thing is, I didn't want to correct the guest, but, uh, yeah, I mean he's from, I mean he's from rural Macomb. Rural Macomb. That's why I'm giving him a pass. Yeah. Well, I mean, Damien, your last, uh, presentation I was at, you had to do the math for me on stage. I mean, you gotta give me, you gotta meet me where I'm at. You know what's Interesting, what's interesting is it was just a simple audition anyway, Sam, ask us, uh, the absolute maximum amount of nature's zinc that you would recommend and that's in furrow. So I think that's probably a Todd Kimball question. Do you have a maximum amount is point is at some point it, it no more can get used, I suppose. Yeah, I mean, like I'm running crop max, I would say two quarts of that product in my area, but I mean, I'm really heavy clay, really. I, I can get away with putting a lot of stuff in furrow that most people can't. So I may not be the best one to answer that question. Kelly, do you have a recommendation? Obviously every, everything you've, you've learned, you think zinc needs to be going out there, but you can't put it all out. You know, Matt Miles famous thing, you can't put a year's worth of food in front of a baby to expect them to grow for the whole year. It's got, it still has to be when, when they can digest it. So what's the maximum amount of zinc you can put out in furrow? We're putting out 16 ounces. I get my cue card from Evans right here, 16 ounces. So one thing to add on that guys on soybeans, if you're going zinc on soybeans, and this was a problem I had a couple years ago, I wanted to push micros hard on soybeans and EDTA zinc, a chelated zinc, anything over a micro pack, doesn't matter if it's a micro pack or zinc alone, anything over two quarts or really over a quart and a half on soybeans, you can create some phototoxicity issues. So I nuke stands, I was running two and a half quart of a micro pack and some zinc and nuke stands by up up to 50% on soybeans. You take that exact same product after the soybeans are out of the ground zero effect on those soybeans. It's really just a phototoxicity. When that seeds gering corn, you could run a gallon two gallon. I mean it really, there, it has no phototoxicity to a lot of the zincs on the market. So something to be mindful of on soybeans. Watch your rate. I wouldn't go anything over two quart, uh, in furrow on soybeans. Well, that's a lot. And, and did we just hear 16, I heard 16 ounce from Kelly, and you're saying don't go over two quarts. There's a long way between 16 ounces onboard Two well's. People push the envelope. We, you know, we, uh, I think that's, I you just don't ever wanna create a crop. Failure is the main thing, you know, if you in strips or something like that. And I think you can, if you really get to putting lots of micros in, in for a, Alright, Sam, hopefully that answers your question. If it doesn't, type in something again and we'll get it clarified. And then, uh, Bo asked the question, is anyone using a micro seed treatment product that instead of an in furrow or starter? Well, I think we just heard a seed treatment that Kelly's using. So can we replace a starter in furrow program with seed treatment? Kelly's gonna take this because Bo we did this very topic in a previous podcast or webinar. It may have been both because what we did was we said there are farmers out here that they just don't have the amount of money to spend on equipment or they're, you know, they're, they're not gonna have as big a stuff as some of the larger scale operators. And Kelly's big point was, and I remember distinctly he said, if I didn't have, you know, a 36 row planter and in furrow and didn't have all that gadgetry, what would I do? Instead? I would invest in the products for seed treatment because that's a, a workaround that gives you just about as much bang for the buck. So you wanna address that. Yes, there, there's some seed treatments that you can put on that will replace some of our inferral fertility programs. And then there's also some planter box treatments that you can add to that, that will, that will help. I would tell you that instead of doing a plus work, it might be B or b plus work, but it is something that is, that is very doable and I've seen a lot of success with that with customers and, and neighbors that we have up here. If anybody else wants to address that, I think they should go ahead. Uh, but that, that's what we've seen in our soil types. Nelson, before you had in furrow, did you use seed treatment or if you didn't have the, uh, two by two and in furrow, because that's a little bit more fancy than, you know, some people quieter up to that. Have you, have you got experience with this? So yeah, I guess I've kinda always used in furrow, but like on our sunflowers and some other more sensitive crops, it's, we use the dry powder and um, and kind of get the same effect out of it. But I mean, you're, you're not getting apples to apples what you could put out in a liquid form. It's more of a, a pretty small rate of whatever products or using nutrients or additives or whatever. But if I don't have inferred, I don't have two by two technology and I can't justify the expense right now to, to retrofit my equipment, I can, what, what's, what can I expect? Am I getting 70% as good of a, of a bounce if I do the right seed treatment? Am I getting 60%, 20% half? I, I guess, I don't know, I, whatever Kelly would say I've, I haven't ever done side by side to know. I I think it's well better than half, you know, uh, but it, it, that's a tough question because it depends on the year and then it depends on the soil types, but yes, I I would say it's three quarters. But in, in some, you know, in some instances if the weather goes right, I think that the, I think the yield benefits at the end could be the same. I really do. I mean the, the, the dry, the dry products and the planter applied, the, the seed treatments and the, and the planter box treatments have come a long way, but I still don't think they quite replace in fertility. Anybody else on that? I, I think the Clint, The, the thing I learned really is seed treatments can be highly effective. You gotta match up the dysfunction of, or the main limiting factor of your area, your soil, your management practice with the correct seed treatment, whether that's you're going low end and you want a more nitrogen fixing scenario. Our high manure guys, we're doing some zinc seed treatment stuff with incredible results. You got a nematode problem. Can you go with a, uh, I say this wrong, will a chita sand based, uh, seed treatment? I think, I think all, I think putting the right product is, is critical and, and today's, you know, where we're at today, we can test all those parameters. There's lots of, uh, metrics out there to, to really dial that in. Tommy, thank you Tommy Roach, our guy with this company right here. I'm holding the pen up to the camera. It says my general is with nature is, my general rule is no more than one and a half courts total of any EDTA chelated or chelated or ated. And, and Augusta, Illinois is ated. My general rule is no more than one half quarts total of an EDT. What's the EDTA mean? Uh, someone help me out here. Anybody know? Alright, my Tommy says chelated micro less than heavy black soil, like where tide is. So one half quarts is what you're talking about. All right. One and a half quarts is your maximum. And uh, that would be to Todd's point or to uh, Clinton's point, he said more than two quarts and Kelly said they were running 16 ounces. Anybody got on that? Tom, Tommy mentioned you. Todd, is there something about that do you wanna go back to or are you good zinc? No, I'm good. I I think it's crucial on this corn. I really do think it's, I think it's a must. I don't, I don't think you should be doing corn without it. All right. And I want you guys to continue to be thinking about dialing in into earn dialing in your in-season fertility. And I want you to be thinking about what exactly the, someone that's like, all these questions are great, but like something you're like, Hey, one thing I really did when I, I got it good and I dialed in when I did this. So be thinking about that. John Nelson asked the question, anyone use Redox in to enhance nitrogen uptake at a reduced rates of nitrogen? Anybody using the redox in product to reduce your rates of applied nitrogen? I'm not using any redox products. No, No. Dang. All right. And then we're gonna go with Tyler. Mecu says, what about a seed treatment with the load of NI nutrients in a two by two? So if you put in a, I think what he is asking is a pretty hefty amount of seed treatment, is it going to get you there? And I think we probably already touched on that, that seed treatment is a great option, but it's not gonna probably quite equal getting it in the soil. Is that what I'm hearing? Yeah, I, I'd do a biological base to overtreat because I think there's a lot of companies working with that're doing overtreating or, or the dry planter box and then, you know, loaded up with fertility in that too by two is an awesome, uh, I think an awesome thing to do. I think that would work really well. Keep your questions coming. We got 'em for you. All right. When we were at the, uh, commodity classic last week, we had two sessions in the nature's panel and I wanna go with one of 'em. And as it ties into in season fertility, uh, early season fertility, we did a session about stress mitigation. The question was stress mitigation, colon fact or fiction. Can you actually do stuff that reduces stress because there's heat, there's, there's drought, there's over saturation of water, there's cold, there's all those things. And uh, Tommy's big point was the best, the best thing you can do to reduce stress or to combat stress is to have a healthy plant. So bring that back to early season. Let's go around the horn again, whoever wants to take this, what do you do early season that you think gets it so that, and Kelly, maybe you wanna lead off on this, the best thing you can do early season to make sure that you are fighting stress from that point forward. Uh, soil health biodiversity. You know, like I, I'm always gonna tell you the utmost nutrient density or the highest level of nutrient density you can reach it. Mineral balance is going to, uh, keep off the stress. And nutrient density is biodiversity plus mineral balance. So a biological paying attention to my soil, looking at good soil health and biodiversity is a key thing. And then going into mineral balance, uh, you know, that that SAP analysis trying to get to 95% nitrogen assimilation, that is, that's my key for, for plant defense. And then if, if I can raise that 95% nitrogen assimilated plant, I, I feel that I have mitigated all the stress I can. Anybody else got anything? Stress, yeah, Balance. I, he said it. I'll say it again. Balance. And Kelly's taught me a lot since I got involved here. Balance, and it's just really opened my eyes. Most people in my area only put out the p or a standard, you know, in furrow. And I think just overall, just more balance is, uh, gonna mitigate a lot of stress going forward in my opinion. Okay. Uh, member type your question. We got one from Jake. Before we hear from Jake, we're gonna hear from me. I got a question for you and it's about the, the, uh, spend. So be thinking about this then we'll catch Jake and we're gonna come back to me. The question I wanna pose after we get from Jake's stuff is about the spend. I'm still convinced that probably there's a tendency to overspend early, um, because it's easy. But I want you guys to think about that because if I need to, if I come to you Clinton and say, you're my agronomic advisor, I need to cut 20 bucks out easily per acre, and I want you to be thinking about that, hell, you can go ahead and tell me, are you gonna take it out right now? You're gonna take it out upfront, you're gonna save me 20 bucks, uh, in April? Yeah, I mean, I think, uh, our, our whole premise right now is measure, figure out your big limiting factor and focus on it. You can't pull out the foundational start yield is, is built from the ground up. And I think what a lot of our data is really showing, if you, if you don't do a good job early and you don't do a good job in the middle, uh, you, you're not gonna get to maximum yield. And to your point, to keep a little, uh, dollars for late season, I think it's critical. You know, we, we get a lot of guys that, uh, maybe don't, don't watch their crop for disease. We, I think in agriculture we're always humbled about the environment shifting, um, or heat stress coming in and just wrecks our crop. And, you know, with the nature's product, like late season, one of the things we've seen with Kfl, it, uh, you know, Velma's a popular fungicide, it lowers, it lowers canopy temperature by up to seven degrees. But then you take, uh, kfl, nature's kfl, potassium product, great product, it'll lower canopy te temperatures by 10 to 11. And we've just seen some phenomenal results out of that. So I do save money for that late season, but I don't skip on this early bucket. Um, I know things are tight. Um, I, you know, what, what we really do is focus on cutting a little bit of our base rate fertility to make all these things happen that, that really, uh, build yield. I think what, what a lot of the things with end season management, early management, finishing the crop off that late season, it's, it's really about keeping setting your whole budget before you even start the year. And that's what a lot of, I think our growers we're working with. And on my own farm I try to do, Uh, Kelly, the year that you went out and jumped the gun, this is the tough part about so much front loaded fertility. Uh, if the conditions were bad and you were jumping the gun, that's still a waste. That's, that's, that's, that is definitely throwing good money at or bad. You went out and planted into conditions where you weren't gonna get maximum. So all that fertility doesn't do anything for you. Am I right? No, you can't, uh, you can't wash away those sins of that sidewall compaction and that 70 30, or like I said, the 60 40 rule, we didn't do that in every field, but you could go back and look at rainfall events and then look at yields and it would correlate to Kelly planted too soon. Well, what about the fertility is is, I mean, if stuff finally germinates three weeks later when the temperature finally got to where it needed to, or four weeks later, I've seen this happen in Indiana where there's crops that get planted and the germination truly is more than three weeks. Four. Oh, that yes. It wasn't that it was too cold, it was too wet. Yeah. So the fertility, is the fertility still there? Cleans the fertility still there in, in our part of the world, is the fertility still around four weeks later if that's when it finally starts to, the plant starts to pop? I think with a lot of these products, it definitely is the way they're, they're complex and formulating and formulating them, but if the root isn't active, uh, you, you got compaction issues and it's not one to penetrate the vigor is what's really the, the limiting factor, the vigor in those conditions. Got it. Is that the Problem? I have a question for Kelly. Was that the problem when you planted beans in December was the fertility wasn't on That was better. Fertility would've made those beans survive. Yeah. Uh, all right, so Jake Pilgrim ask the question, how many units of inn can you back off on cotton and corn with banding versus broadcasting? This is gonna be a question for someone that's in the cotton world, that probably is Todd and it might be Nelson. Nelson. That's a great question. That's a great question. I, I'll say, you know, on cotton, I'm looking to try to get to that 80% of normal number by banding and we're actually kind of rigging up everything to do that right now. So I'm excited. I I talked to Jake about this a lot, so it's uh, it's exciting. I think we've been overlying nitrogen a long time around here. I really do Not just around there, not just around, not just around. Raise your hand if you think in general in North America we've been over applying nitrogen. I think that we all got, we all agree in, by the way you say that in some of these uh, uh, ag meetings where the average age is a couple decades older than us Yeah. And they'll about, uh, get their cane out from under the table and swing at you. Yep. Well, Kelly urged me to back off on my corn this year and I did, and it's the best corn we ever raised. So I'll yield to Nelson How many units of in, can you back off on cotton or corn with banding versus broadcasting? So obviously then we're talking about getting the in where it needs to be, which, uh, Nelson you can speak to that obviously there's a whole bunch of in that goes out in the middle of the soil that don't get to the plant, I think, but you know better. So give 'em a number. Do you have a number? I, I guess I don't, but we try to shoot for 0.8 pounds per bushel to one pound per bushel and corn. And sometimes we get a little lower than that just depending on the spot. But um, last year on our cotton, I think we only put 50 units of nitrogen on it, but we strip tilled it in, so it was in a band six inches directly below it and Okay. Well then answering that, because I don't do cotton, you said you only put on 50 units because you were able to band it. What's that compared to if you broadcast? Is that half? Yeah, probably. I mean, is that what you would say Todd? I, Yeah, that's pretty low. I mean that's getting down there. We, we were actually like 0.6 5.7 our corn this year. Uh, so that was a feat. I'm excited. And the, the funny part about that is we were, we were as low as we ever been, uh, pounds per bushel, but we still have residual Inn out there. I, I went and specifically did spoil soil test post harvest, just to see, I wanted to prove that we have a lot of residual Inn left out there nitrate in the top six inches. So I mean, it's obvious we've been applying too much nitrogen in the past. Anybody else got anything on nitrogen banding versus broadcasting? I'll go back Again About Kelly's all about reducing nitrogen, but putting it out when it needs to be there and in the right location and realizing that your other sources air and soil might be giving you some nitrogen, which kind of, uh, I think the takeaway I've had from two years of his field days, Nelson had something to say first I, I think we could probably really cut back on our nitrogen if we get the rest of the plant. I balance, it seems like in our SAPs the last couple years we've just been way overboard on end and that's kind of just the go-to thing for anybody growing. Corn is more nitrogen and that's, I don't know where the bottom is or how low we could go in, in, in that. So This year, uh, you know, I I, I haven't banded anything but this year we stream barred it, stream barred it, which is a, you know, kind of a poor man's form banding in my opinion. And we had 30 gallons of 28 0 0 5, so it's 84 pounds of nitrogen and clear up into late July. We thought that it's dry land corn. We thought it was gonna make, uh, 300 bushel. Then when the rust came in, it made 2 25. Uh, you know, now, um, you know that that liquid nitrogen is more per unit than anhydrous and it became a little bit of a challenge on our heels to apply it. You know, there's a, uh, a logistical challenge there. So I, I don't know that I'll do any in 26. We'll probably stick with anhydrous overall, but there's 84 pounds of nitrogen and we, we were very confident. Evans was very confident and he's not ever confident of anything because he's nervous. He, we thought that that was gonna make 300 bushel and it made 2 25 in, in the second worst disease in my career. It was amazing. Alright, we're gonna go to Jeff Fritz from Maryland. Thanks Jeff for being here. Got a whole bunch of the country represented. We got Texas, we got, there's like four counties in Texas that are the size of Maryland, I think, Jeff, so, you know, we're hap we're happy to have you on here to represent, uh, you know, the, the, that part of the world. Jeff, Fritz asked your nitrogen to sulfur ratio. I hadn't even thought about this. I wanna hear what all of you had to say about this. We're going around the whole horn on this, your, where do you want your nitrogen to sulfur ratio to be in your two by two application. This is one of the better questions I've ever heard. I'll tell you, on December 15th, calibrated agronomy had the growing Forward conference in Omaha, Nebraska. And Jared Cook said he believes. Now, I don't know if this is in the two by two, but Jared Cook will tell you that he thinks that we should probably be one-to-one overall and which is an amazing thing. Nobody talks about that, but that tells you how much we're over applying nitrogen, we should turn it down, and how much we're under applying sulfur, we should turn it up. Yeah. Overall, throughout the season, it, Jared believes it should be one-to-one. All right, Todd and Nelson, I hear from you guys. Yeah, we're, we're increasing sulfur all the time. I, I mean, everything I'm doing has more sulfur in it going forward, so I know we're low on sulfur, especially in my high pH and high calcium soil. So everything we're doing is we're raising sulfur, lowering nitrogen. Now, also need putting sulfur in your two by two at the same rate as you are your nitrogen. Yeah. Well, I guess we don't do two by two, but just for example, we're putting anhydrous in their strip till and we're running some liquid a TS along with it to get the sulfur portion, but pretty much every time nitrogen goes out, there's sulfur with it. Clint, I never even heard about sulfur as a kid. I gotta tell you this, this is newer stuff. Zinc, sulfur, copper, all these things. All the stuff that's not macros. Uh, I, I, I, I think we're still, I think we're still not even where we need to be on any of this stuff. And we're still overplaying nitrogen, but, um, I never even, I never even heard about all the application of sulfur until I got up with these extreme mad guys. Yeah. Am I the late bloomer here? You are a late bloomer. I mean, I hate to say it, but, uh, I, I, I do think sulfur, we, we we're more of a, in the corn, lot of what we recommended now is four to one. If you don't have a base rate nitrogen program down and you're putting it out in your two by two, we really like that 60 to 80 pounds, uh, that down in nitrogens. But we would want sulfur, at least a four to one in that application. Sulfur's very volatile. And the big thing to think about with sulfur as we run all this data, um, and with extreme ag calibrated, what we're seeing is sulfur is kind of the gateway for a lot of other nutrients. It, it wants, it's very synergistic with phosphorus. If you're struggling to get phosphorus, everybody talks about zinc. Well, sulfur, I think in my mind today, it's right there with it. It it. Alright, so what's the ratio, what's the ratio you're gonna recommend to, uh, Jeff, uh, in his two by two, four To one? Um, if he's already got base rate in, I'd just run a big rate of a TS. Um, there's a lot of different products I think that'll fit the bill, um, in that two by two, but I would be dominant. Sulfur, nitrogen doesn't become important really till we get to that rapid growth phase. It's, it's, you need to four Sulfur the one part nitrogen in a two by two. Yep. I would say that, Damien, I need to disagree with you a little bit. You talked about micros there. I think the American farmer needs to understand sulfur's, not a micro, it's a macro. It's the fourth macro. That's my opinion. I like it. By the way, we also did a recording yours, uh, months ago, if you wanna dig that one up also, where Kelly said it's not the three macros, there's nitrogen in its own category, uh, and then the next two, and then now he's adding sulfur into that one. And then there's the, what we call 'em, we call 'em the major macros, micro major micros and the not so important micros. They're important, but they're, they're not. They're, they're important, but they're not. Uh, yeah. Sam, ask, given the option of applying a starter two by two or moving that fertility into a V four or V five foliar application, which way would you go given the option of applying starter two by two or moving that fertility into a V four V five fuller? Which way are you gonna go? And then we'll get to the rest of this question. Who's gonna go, Nelson, I'm gonna give you the option. And by the way, here's the best part. Pretend that you're playing with Sam's money. This is the best way to farm. So it's not your money at Sam's and you're gonna say, you know what, I'm gonna move it out of two by two and I'm gonna put it into the foliar, the first foliar application we make. You gonna do that? No, I wouldn't. I would pull some either out of our dry spread or cut some of our strip-till rate and move it later in season. You would not take money out of the two by two. You think it's that important? I think Clint's already in agreement. He just keeps saying, take, take it from somewhere. Don't rob it. From the, from the planting, from the, from the at time of planting. Is that right Clint? Yeah, I'd choose two by two for sure. Uh, Wide drop. I would run it later. See wide drop. I'm a big wide drop fan and that's how I do it. So that's what we would do. Kelly, In our soil, we have stripped as much out of in furrow as we can. We have taken the two by two off the planter and we've reallocated all of that to those later. I, to me, even V four V five's not late enough. I've reallocated that money to like VT R two things like that. Of course Sam just, course Sam just got an answer from Clint that said, leave it on the two by two. Nelson says, oh my God, don't put any dry out. Put it on the two by two. Todd says, put it out at Y drop. I'm a big fan of Y Drop. And Kelly says, we've taken as much stuff outta two by two as possible because we don't get the payback for it. Does it matter where you are geographically? A hundred percent. Sam, like you know, Clint, I and Todd and Nelson all have four different soil profiles. That's the value of tonight. I don't know where Sam is. Sam type in where you are. I I don't know if He is in, uh, Pence, Butler, Pennsylvania. Okay. So he would most, most probably, and I think the second half of his question might be relevant. I don't know if You wanna read that. He says what he runs right now is four to six gallons of 3 18 18 in two by two. And then he puts two to three gallons in furrow. Is that, does that changed anything? And he's got eight to 10 CEC soils. Is he a dairy Sam, are you Well, if he's a, if he's in a part of Pennsylvania, he might not be a dairy, but it's very likely that for the last a hundred years his ground was, uh, maybe a dairy farm. He said beef, he said Beef. He's beef. Beef. I, he got Clint. I I like, I like the, uh, wide drop where it's applicable. You know, Kelly doesn't, doesn't have that option. We've, we've pulled our two by two and went to in furrow spending less money and then we come in with a big wide drop. That's kind of our playbook in our area. But I think the question was two by two or a V four foliar. And I'd go, I, and to me I wanna affect that plant right out of the gate. Um, if I had the option between a foliar and a two by two. Now knowing, now knowing that, because he might mostly compare to you Pennsylvania, granny's not gonna have Iowa prairie soils. Um, but he's got livestock probably. There was probably a history of manure on that ground. And then he's gonna have obviously a little, uh, certainly he's not gonna have 18 feet of top. So like you have, but from a climatological standpoint. So are you telling him that you think pull from two by two? No, not now that I know he has eight to 10 CCCs. That's a whole different ballgame. I'm 16 to 22. Yeah, so, so stick with this two by two, stick with the infra, right? Right. Yes. Fantastic. Thank you for doing that. Uh, I feel like, I feel like we really helped Sam right there. Um, Bo asked the question, do you have an opinion on how to metabolize ammonium versus nitrate and a plant from SAP analysis and corn? Uh, that might be a Kelly question, but does anybody else have uh, anything wanna take this on metabolizing ammonium versus nitrate in a plant? I will tell you that what we just keep applying micro. We keep turning the nitrogen down and turning the micronutrients up. That's my farmer answer. Clint will have a better economist answer than that though. Uh, ammonium is the biggest negative yield attribute in our excess ammonium in the plant. So ammonium should be processed in the root and what it takes to process that process. That is micros sulfur, micronutrients and, um, active carbon or soluble carbon. So a lot of times if we see excess of ammonium in the plant, we're gonna run a carbon source. We're gonna put sulfur. And the biggest driver of running ammo, driving ammonium out as a micronutrients would be iron. If you've got excessive copper in your, or, uh, excuse me, if you got excessive nitrate in your plant, you would want to apply copper. Um, but iron seems to really help, but you still need the carbon. You still need a little sulfur. I think there's a lot of secondary micros within molly nickel cobalt that are also important on ammonium. But what we've found is carbon, iron and sulfur are the primary drivers to get that to convert. Everybody was going with that. Nelson, you're nodding your head sorta kind of. I I agree. I don't know any different though. Alright. By the way, when Sam then applied replied, I don't have the ability to run VT coordin and that's YV four. What's he talking about here? He doesn't have the ability to, you know, to run a high boy or something for a sprayer. So vt, that's what he's doing is supposed oh, Late, late. And he can't, he can't do late in the season. And so why drop might even would be a problem for him. Okay. Uh, alright Dan, I think we got those questions answered. I wanna make sure that we don't, uh, keep our audience too long. We wanna give 'em information they can use. So we'll go around the horn here. Again, if you're dialing in your early season fertility, be thinking, and I want you to all answer this, the overarching advice, just like we did at the commodity class. We had our booths and whatnot. We said, here's the, here's the one thing mistake I've learned from something I'm changing this year. And here's why I want you to each give me the one thing when it comes to early season fertility. Um, and I think I can kind of recap it for everybody, but I wanna hear it from you before I do that. Remind you, we're doing this here on June 4th. Thursday, June 4th is the next one. We're gonna talk about our stage fertility. You heard Kelly point out that he made the mistake, he used to put out a whole bunch of fertility and have beautiful vegetative crops. That's one of the things I learned. I said, these soybeans look like s**t Kelly. He said, I don't want 'em to look good right now because they're not actually putting anything in the pods. They're just gonna create great big plants that are gonna fall down the wind. He was right. I was wrong, but I I, uh, I I've learned this. So the point is, the next time we meet in June, we're gonna talk about getting your r stage fertility, right, because you know what, beautiful vegetative fields, they look neat for the neighbors and everybody can go and talk about it, but that'll make you any money. What makes you money is bushels, bushels in the truck. And to do that, you've gotta get the r stage, the reproductive growth, correct. We're gonna meet and talk about that on June 4th. So make sure you mark your calendar. Overarching advice. One big thing when it comes to early season fertility, who wants to take it and go? I'll tell you, uh, you know, I've been sitting here tonight listening to these guys. It's what a wonderful conversation. I appreciate them being on and helping taking time. And then I, I think back to, uh, you know, the nutrient density from GLC beef and I was so happy with the calcium levels in my beef and calcium has been the toughest nutrient we've had to deal with now that I feel like we have kind of solved the calcium issue. Zinc, as we've talked about a lot tonight, is the toughest nutrient we have to deal with. And my, the zinc levels of my beef relative to the database on that nutrient density from Utah State, my zinc's pretty average. And I sit here and think, and you know what I, uh, um, I'm, I got my little sheet right here and I'm gonna spend $2 and 75 cents an acre on zinc in my inferral. I'm thinking I probably should increase that to about $4 an acre. That, that's my takeaway from tonight. What I've learned is I think I need more zinc. Nelson, are you gonna change anything? Are you gonna change anything right now in se in your early season fertility plan based on what you learned tonight? I don't think so, but I just want to, you know, just think about, there's a lot you can do in furrow, not just fertility. I mean there's other biologicals you can use, fungicides, insecticides, your in furrow and early season is, that's a pretty big tool and you can use it a lot of different ways and, uh, get good benefits out of it. Clin, I asked you about money right now. You're in an advisory situation. Someone calls you up and says, ma'am, I'm telling you why I'm stressed you. The one big thing you're gonna tell 'em is don't cut back on early season. Don't cut back on in furrow. I've heard you say that again and again and again. So then they say, you're gonna bankrupt me, then you tell 'em no, just steal from later in the season. Is that what you're telling them? No, I mean we're, we're getting creative. I mean we're working with, uh, Nutri Drip. We're, we're filtering manure. We're using that as a starter replacement with biology, carbon, getting that biodiversity or that foundational start. And I'll, I'll agree. You know, one of the things Todd kept talking about, balance, balance, balance. If you pull a few tests, you can pull some soil tests preseason. One of the things that I've picked up from working with the fruit nut and vegetable industry, they pull what they call a paste extraction or what we call it calibrated a rapid soil. They build their in furrow off their limiting factor. And I think we can learn from them. So we don't overspend. We, we get really, really pointed on how we spend that dollar. And that, that's my big takeaway is balance is important. We can pull a test to figure it out and then from there, there's lots of great products within this extreme ag organization to, uh, to pull from and, and really fi fix that problem, that balance problem. Tyler, the person on the call that has a crop that's already up, everybody's cheesing about this get excited, they're like starting to get excited about spring days are getting longer. What'd you do that you think has helped you dial in this early season? 'cause you're ahead of everybody else here by a couple of months. Yeah, so plain and simple on on the spin part. Well, we cut back on our p so we've been running six gallons and we went to four and the reason we did actually went to three and then added a gallon of, of K Flex Max. But the reason we did our soul test P is going up and our K is stagnant to going down. So that tells me we're not using all the P and we need a little more K So again, balance, but it's also cost effective. It's saved me a ton of money this year in a year that we really need to, to be careful. And I mean testing after harvest really opened my eyes to a lot of things, even nitrogen. So yeah, it's all about balance. I think the big part there is testing postseason last year and applying it to this year because now you're not making these decisions and saying, yeah, I gotta spend less money, but damn, what if I make the bad? What if I, what if it costs me more than I, you know, you can't save yourself to prosperity. It's one of the famous things we talked about. It's one of Matt Miles lines. You can't, you can, you can save yourself into, you know, into, into a, a failure also, but you doing it based on last year. So that's the fun part about what we do at Extreme Ag. I'm sure I can hit this. So Todd Kimbrel baited me into this competition. I just wanna point out that Todd Kimbrel is 15 years younger than me and outweighs me by 80 pounds. So what we really had here was a situation where this young heavyweight contender wearing his, you know, his heavyweight champion who, and I might be lying west 80 pounds, he might out maybe by a hundred pounds. The man is obviously just a stud of an athlete. Ask him. And so he had to go over and out punch me. So basically I'm Sugar Ray Leonard and he's a young version of George Foreman about as slow but big and strong like George Foreman. So yes, the answer Lindsay, I answered it live here on our webinar.
