Farming Video | Y-Drop Fungicide Trials with Kevin Matthews

20 Aug 251m 55s

Kevin Matthews is putting fungicide timing under the microscope with a new trial comparing in-furrow Xyway, traditional foliar applications, and Y-Drop delivery. Working alongside FMC, Kevin set up a 45-acre side-by-side trial to see what gives the best disease control with minimal disruption to the operation. The goal? Maximize ROI without adding unnecessary complexity. With tight budgets and limited resources, Kevin’s keeping it practical, efficient, and focused on what truly works.

00:00:00 Fungicide time. What works in your operation? That's what we're trying to figure out here. For FMC. Xyy in a two by two is absolutely proven. It works good. 00:00:12 We use it in our operation on a lot of the lot of acres, but then we also have situations where we wanna push it 00:00:19 and we know we're going to be putting a foer across it and, uh, let say shucks, we'll wait and put that on when we put the foer, what's the right time, 00:00:27 what's the right place? When's the best time to do it? That's what we're trying to figure out. So we actually, this year, um, at FMCs request, we 00:00:37 are trying some wide drop applications. So we took a 45 acre field and we, uh, did traditional with 00:00:48 fungicide in, with a foliar fertilize. We've got our tub by two with XY way up front, which is very powerful, does a good job. 00:00:59 And then we've got it in a wide drop. Then we went and all the foer fertilized that we put on the traditional side of the field, we've done 00:01:08 that all the way across the field. Same time in st everything. Only if we pulled that fungicide out of 00:01:15 that broadcast application. The beauty about this is, is it just gives more opportunities for different options 00:01:24 to you to use with what fits your farming operation without having to make a major change. 00:01:29 'cause times is tight. Money's tight, it's hard to be changing and doing all kinds of different things. 00:01:35 You've gotta use what resources that you have. I'm gonna be interested, I'm looking forward to it. Never thought about doing wide drop applications 00:01:43 for fungicide, but hey, it um, might be the next best thing. 00:01:48.675 --> 00:01:49.165
