Farming Video | Wheat Harvest Results: The 20-Bushel Mistake I Won't Make Again

00:00:00 Wheat harvest '26 is now complete. We had 350 acres of wheat this year. I was a little bit nervous about it because we only put on 40 pounds of 00:00:09 nitrogen due to the nitrogen price. It was a dollar a point for us for the liquid nitrogen because of the war. But that 40 pounds of nitrogen was enough. 00:00:20 We had two fields. We had a 220-acre field. We had 130, 135 acre field. The 220 acre field made 95, which is a really good wheat for us 00:00:31 in my 10 or 11 year history of raising wheat. The 130 acre field only made 75, but that's because of the mistake I made there is I let the cows run on it. 00:00:41 My dad and my father-in-law always thought we should let the cows pasture that in the fall because it looks so nice and green. 00:00:47 Well, I can tell you the result of that was a 20-bushel yield penalty, so I won't make that mistake again. But the 95 bushel wheat and everything we learned there, 00:00:54 really great. We used VaxPlant from UPL as a fungicide. The sap analysis and the mineral balance that we obtained 00:01:03 helped with the plant health, and then the VaxPlant from UPL really put it over the top. The straw's in great shape. 00:01:10 We're out here baling it now, and now we're onto the oats, and so the next crop we'll have is oats.
