00:00 Hey, we're talking about your final pass on soybeans. And to do that, we're gonna start with our man, Andy Banal. He is an extreme Ag member. 00:05 We're at his farm here in Northern Indiana. You're getting ready to take your final pass. It's August 1st. Today about the minute we pull the 00:12 driveway, you're gonna start loading up the sprayer. What's gonna be in it? Uh, we're gonna put some vy tech in it. 00:15 We're gonna have some insecticides in it to, uh, protect this during our grain fill. Is, that's where the money's at, is the grain fill. Right. 00:21 And it's gonna have, is, is herbicide in it? Certain Spots might need some foliar feed. Yes. We will put a little bit of foliar in it. 00:27 Okay. So those are the four things we got. We got a fungicide, we got an insecticide, we got a herbicide and we got a foliar. 00:32 Yeah. Anything else? Probably A little bit of sugar. Well, what, What are you holding out for me? 00:35 I mean, you think we're competing here, you know, is there gonna be, there's gonna be gold. There's gonna be gold dust in it. Also handy. 00:40 What is in this? No, what is gonna be in the sprayer? It's a full load. It's a full load. It's a full load. I should tell the viewer 00:46 and the listener right now Temple's here because Temple is actually overseeing a lab that Andy is doing for us at Extreme Ag. 00:52 You'll get the results here at Extreme Ag member. So obviously BASF is partnering on this. We're doing something kind of cool in the lab. 00:58 Tell us what we're doing. So What we're doing out here is we have, uh, strips, um, a 20 acre patch. 01:03 We've done some other treatments and stuff out here to compare side by side. Sure. Standard treatments on 20 acres 01:09 and then 20 acres where we kind of throw the whole kit and caboodle at it. Okay. And so what we're doing on the part, 01:14 doing the kick caboodle, we won't put this on, we'll just leave it untreated and then have a treatment. Based 01:20 On what I've heard so far from Andy, I'm not sure we know what's gonna be on any of it. 'cause he just won't divulge 01:24 what's gonna be in the spray rig. But I can tell you, you can call me later. All right. So tell me what 01:27 the, the purpose of this temple. Part of it's gonna have fungicide and insecticide part's not gonna have 01:31 fungicide and insecticide. Yeah. What are we gonna learn from that? Well, what we're gonna learn is, is you know, hey, 01:36 are we getting a huge ROI especially this year, like this year, we need to be super sensitive to the situation. 01:43 Is this going to make money for us? And Because low Soybeans, Because low commodity prices we're, if we're talking, 01:49 we're talking nine, $10 soybeans. We've gotta be counting every dollar of op uh, input that goes out there is, what's your contention? 01:56 Today's August 1st it's humid. The insects are, the mosquitoes are on. Like we're standing in a bog. 02:00 I would say fungicide is gonna win because absolutely you're gonna need this. Is that your contention? I 02:04 Would be in agreement with that because of the hurricane that we did have come up. We're not sure what all has come up with that. 02:09 And we don't really wanna wait until it's here. We want to nip in the bud before it gets here to protect these beans as best we can. 02:15 That's, that's, that's key. Um, weather conditions are huge in what fungicides, whether they pay or not. 02:20 Yep. So, uh, the conditions, I mean, we're standing here and we're sweating not doing anything. 02:25 So it is perfect conditions for diseases He's in. He's a BSF employee. So he is not gonna answer this. Have there been plenty of times when you got 02:32 by without needing the fungicide and so what this trial seeks to prove? You're like, I sometimes it's a coin flip. 02:37 Sometimes it's probably guesswork, but you've got some results Sometimes. So, I 02:41 mean, there's been times in, in the past where we didn't have the humidity. We didn't have, you know, it was extremely dry weather. 02:47 You know, we went in there and we put a fungicide on and it didn't really pan out because it just aided plant health. 02:53 Yeah. But there was really not a disease to really to keep, you know, at bay. So we've had those situations. 02:59 You know what I want to ask is, is do you only make one pass a fungicide? 'cause in my world there's multiple passes of fungicide. 03:08 Um, if the weather's conducive and let me get across, I will try to do multiple passes. I, I am a firm a believer in fungicide 03:14 because we gotta work on that plant health to keep it alive and keep it going and keep it filling. 03:17 And see that's what I'm getting at. So like in a situation where it is hot and dry, when you get in a situation early on 03:24 where you can aid a lot more plant health, that helps with that stress mitigation and that's what pays out for me. 03:30 That, that's key. 'cause fungicides of, of lore back when they first came out, they killed what was on the plant and that was it. 03:37 That's all that they did. There was no residual, no anything. Sure. Fungicides today do so much more for corn and beans. 03:42 Yep. Um, like I said, plant health is the one just keeps that plant happy. Even if there's no huge disease pressure there. 03:49 Keeping it in a good state of mind. Keep the solar panels working. And I believe when we're down have Matthews, 03:54 we talked about the, some of these more advanced fungicides they've got a residual for. They'll give you, they'll buy you two to three weeks. Yeah. 04:00 Yeah. Uh, so on this pass that you did put fungicide on, this is your last pass, but it's not your first pass. 04:05 Right. Will it be the second? Some of it will, some of 'em won't. So we wanna find out that way too. 04:11 That that way it gives me a check. Alright. Thank you. Continually, continually check yourself to make sure you're, stay 04:16 Tuned. If you are an extreme Ag member, you'll get the answers to these labs because that's what they, that's what you get. 04:21 If you're an extreme Ag member, seven $50 a year, you get access to all the information, all the trial data that these guys publish at the end of the year. 04:26 You also get exclusive, uh, offers from our business partners. And you also get a direct line 04:31 of communication with people like Temple. If you want to call and ask a question. And goodness knows, I'm afraid I'm gonna become an extreme 04:36 ag member to get some of this information out of Andy because he's quite cagey right now about what's going on. Changey coming at you from northern Indiana, Damien Mason 04:42 with the crew from Extreme Ag, BASF, Andy Ental, and of course Temple Rhodes.
