Hi, this is Kelly Garrett from Extreme Ag. We're here in Gladstone, Illinois at John Torrance, the soybean field, along with Kurt Martins of BASF.
00:07
And you know, we're making videos here today about the vo soybeans, and I just made a joke off camera that in Iowa,
00:12
with all my hills in Western Iowa with all my hills, we always like to turn so we have a different backdrop. It's impossible here.
00:19
I'm a little jealous of John's ground straight back and forth. It's flat at my place.
00:23
We're farming both sides of the acre, John, he, he can't get on the other side of the acre here. It, it's, it's a pretty nice place
00:29
to stand and make a video. What we're talking about now are the August uglies, the wheat escapes that we all get in our
00:35
soybean fields this time of year. John, it looks pretty nice here. What, uh, what's the program? Sure.
00:40
So, uh, we post application was Liberty enlist and, uh, ZUSC. And, and so because of that, you've got some residual.
00:47
Kurt, I would say this is a great commercial here for BASF. There's no, there's no August uglies. Yeah, this is,
00:53
This is the program work. This is, this is our main program. We had the RO Pro down pre came.
00:58
John came back in a timely fashion when weeds were small with liberty, with enlist.
01:02
So two effective sites of action to, you know, put, kind of put that double hammer on the water
01:06
and plus the layered residual with the residual sc to get us to camp. Remember, our, what we're trying to do here is we're trying
01:14
to prevent the weeds from germinating with our residuals. We use the, the liberty to come back and,
01:20
and take out any escapes, put out more residual to get us to canopy. Once we get to Cany,
01:24
we shut the sunlight off to the soil surface. Waterhemp stop stops germinating. And you know, this is John. John, you hit it. You nailed it.
01:31
You did it perfect. 'cause this, this field's clean. This is great. Yes. You know, I think most soybean post chemical applications
01:37
don't have a residual because of the problem with the crop safety. The BASF program offers great crop safety.
01:43
You can tell by the health of these soybeans. You can tell how great it works because again, there's no weeds.
01:48
So it really looks nice here with the amount Of water and pressure that I see Western Illinois and I cover parts of Iowa as well.
01:54
And I'd say most of the Midwest, there's just so much seed out there in the soil that we have to continue layering these residuals
02:00
again to, to get to canopy. That's, that's our, that's our goal. And so when we look at a wet year, like this year,
02:05
we've had obviously a lot of rain. It's address sea gonna hold really strong under, under several entrance precipitation like we've had here.
02:13
And it gonna help us achieve that goal of clean fields. I would say the Zi u SC here is working really good. And, uh, I'd love to see how these means turn out.
02:20
Thank you guys. Thank you.
