Farming Video | Testing Cotton Planter Fertilizer Nozzles for Row-to-Row Accuracy
Getting in-furrow fertilizer right on cotton is one thing — getting every row to act the same is another.
00:00:00 We're working on our cotton planters today, and I'm always trying to make our application better. So I want consistency between rows to rows without-- 00:00:11 On our corn planters, some of them we do have electronic control row by row, but on our cotton planters, we're running orifices. And I've found these nozzles. 00:00:19 They call it somewhat of a variable rate nozzle, and they're actually a TeeJet brand. So we're concerned about 00:00:27 consistency between rows. So we actually have a liquid test stand from Precision Planting where we can put something like this on it 00:00:35 and check flows and time flows and see how pressures are going to react to different speeds and rates. 00:00:41 So that's what we're doing today. We're running these individually in here, and we have an electromagnetic flow meter, so we're able to really be precise on monitoring our 00:00:51 flow and flip our pump on. And so here we got pressure. So we're running flow through, just simulating like it'd be on a planter. 00:01:06 So we can adjust the speeds and the rates to match what we're going to do. We're running in-furrow fertilizer on cotton. 00:01:13 So main takeaway is we really want consistency row to row, and we've never ran these before, and how else would we know without a catch bucket on a planter and making a mess? 00:01:23 So that's what we're doing today to try to make our cotton planter 00:01:27.799 --> 00:01:29.899
