Farming Video | Soybean Residual Herbicide Put to the Test in a Wet Year

3 Sep 26

A wet June can expose the weak spots in a soybean herbicide program pretty quick. Clint Frese checks back in on a western central Illinois field where UPL Preview 2.1 SE went down as a spring pre-emergent. While plenty of soybean acres in the area have needed another cleanup pass, this field tells a different story. Clint takes a look at how the residual held through some tough conditions and what he’s thinking about heading into next season.

00:00 It's Clint Frees with XtremeAg, doing a check-in on a trial I did with UPL. This was actually a spring pre-emergent herbicide that we laid down, Preview 2.1 00:00:11 SE. And the reason I'm back out here today, a lot of guys have been respraying beans the last month. Here in western central Illinois, we've had extremely wet 00:00:20 growing conditions, especially through the month of June. So we've had a lot of pressure put on our herbicide residual programs and just 00:00:27 overall weed pressure in general. And the reason I want to come back out here today is this is a field where we had Preview. We haven't had to come back in and clean it up. 00:00:36 And so as you guys start to think about get through harvest, start to think about next year, think about stepping your residual game up on soybeans especially. 00:00:48 And I think Preview 2.1 is a great product to do that. Very safe. No real issues with causing any issues as the beans are starting to germinate and 00:00:58 come through the surface due to cold, wet conditions. I had no issues with that, something we've struggled with in the past. So I really wanted to bring highlight to this product again, and just that it's 00:01:08 doing a much better job of holding the weeds in this wet 00:01:10.530 --> 00:01:15.000
