Johnny Verell, the extreme mag. I'm out here today with Jacob, apple Berry and we're, we're out here in our field out here in Jackson,
00:00:06
Tennessee, and you know, we got a lot of plots going on out here and we're always wanting to collect more data
00:00:10
and you know, the key to all these plots is the data and trying to track gdu, moisture, humidity, temperature, all these type things.
00:00:16
Got to talking to Jacob one day and he is like, Hey, we got some weather stations that work great.
00:00:20
They tie in with John Deere Operation Center. They got apps on your phones, you can do soil moisture sensors, tie all that in together.
00:00:26
So we're gonna put several across our farms on the irrigation systems that we have, dry land and irrigated to see if we can track the difference in
00:00:33
moisture levels inside and outside the pivot. But out here at the field day, you know, we were installing 'em, you know,
00:00:37
Jacob had some things he was telling me that they were doing, I didn't even realize it. Talk about the soil moisture sensors,
00:00:42
what all they can do. Well, In addition to being able to, you know, gather soil moisture and look at
00:00:45
where you're at on your full optimal refill gauge, which is gonna show up on your op center where it's just an easy thing first thing in the morning.
00:00:51
You're looking at that saying, do I need to water a can of water? Things like that. You're looking at the soil temperature,
00:00:56
but you're also are able to look at the environmental conditions and tie that into, is there a disease pressure opportunity
00:01:01
that's either here or maybe coming due to the weather forecasting that it has between this and the soil moisture probe in the field.
00:01:07
It's also managing your nitrogen by looking at leaching opportunities if you get a big rain or something like that.
00:01:12
Being able to force it through the soil more and maybe loose some hydrogen opportunities, which, you know, it's all about yield. Yeah.
00:01:18
You know, and a lot of times in these variety trials we got out here at the field, a, some of the varieties start, you know, showing signs of wilting or lack of water.
00:01:25
These sensors here will help us determine if that's really what's going on, or if it's heat induced or if it's protection mode brought on
00:01:30
by the plants, those type things. So be interested to see what happens. We'll be doing some more posts about this throughout the
00:01:36
year, but look forward to seeing everybody coming out the field on August 5th, 00:01:39.725 --> 00:01:40.645
