Farming Video | Temple Rhodes Walks Back His Words After Seeing SeaPhos in Action with Kelly Garrett

7 Aug 253m 29s

XtremeAg’s Temple Rhodes and Kelly Garrett dig into eye-opening soybean trial results featuring SeaPhos from Tidal Grow. Temple admits he was turned off by the product’s strong smell—until he saw the plants. The difference between beans treated with SeaPhos and untreated checks was clear: more branching, stacked nodes, and fuller pods. The two compare results across plots, discuss the limits of product stacking, and explore how some in-furrow solutions perform differently on corn versus soybeans. It’s a real-world look at how one product turned skepticism into confidence.

00:00:00 Hey guys, it's Temple. I'm here with, uh, Kelly Garrett. So, um, we're out here at a field day right now, uh, 00:00:05 out here in Indiana, uh, at our buddy Damien Mason's. He, he put together a field day out here with a bunch of different trials. 00:00:12 It's very well done. I'm pretty impressed with that. Um, but we're seeing some things out here for Title Grove that they were some issues that I had Kelly, um, 00:00:21 that I didn't necessarily like when I applied the products, I, and, and the smell was one of them. 00:00:28 Um, but it was a easy form to, to handle. It was just the smell was an issue to me. And, and that is what it is. 00:00:35 You talked about that, the smell of the product and things like that and you were unsure about it. And then we came here and, uh, really made me laugh 00:00:42 'cause you started walking through 'em and touching the dirt. I wish you would've had your big spoon 00:00:46 and you're doing all those things and I've got a bean outta the check and you've got a bean out of the CFOs 00:00:51 and all of a sudden now that smell ain't so bad. Yeah. I actually told Kelly last night, I'm like, this really hurts my feelings to say this, 00:00:57 but I, I take back everything that I said because I think I can deal with the smell if it's a problem. Because the difference in the beans is staggering. 00:01:06 Just hold 'em upside down. That's the check. The only thing different was both of 'em had seed treatment. This one just had the CFOs put on it. 00:01:16 And this is what we shoot for when we're after high yield and beans. I mean stacking nodes, uh, the branching that we got 00:01:23 and it is full of pods. So it's really an impressive plant. And what I wanna say here is like when we're with extreme ag 00:01:32 and all the, the trials that we do, we find out these things that are synergetic and we also find out what is not. 00:01:38 Yep. And what I can tell you what I found through this plot, I feel really comfortable that this is the same ground. 00:01:44 I feel really comfortable that everything looks the same. I got down in the dirt with my hands. It's 00:01:48 The same bean variety planted the same day. Yep. Everything's the same. It's just different. It's different. Um, points put on. 00:01:55 So it basically, it staggers check Seed Treatment, seed treatment, seed treatment plus CFOs and then it just keeps stepping up. 00:02:02 Yes. All the way into the end. What I found in the, in the plot was, is the more they stacked, the worse they got. 00:02:09 It was like this was just seed treatment on yours. Mm-hmm. That you held up. This was seed treatment plus CFOs 00:02:16 and by far that's impressive. The CFOs and the C Treatment, it is impressive. Looks to be the best to you. 00:02:21 Right. And then when you step down through it, even though it got CFOs, but it got CFOs plus Oceanic plus this plus that. 00:02:27 And when you they start stacking more stuff on, it seemed to get worse. But does that mean that that's like that everywhere? 00:02:33 No, it doesn't. What it means to me is, is maybe we just had a phosphorus deficiency here in this ground. 00:02:39 Maybe he didn't even know about that and it just went right after it and went to work. 00:02:44 That's what I see. There's also the oceanic was in furrow. Sometimes stuff in furrow works great on corn 00:02:50 but it don't work on soybeans. So you better be careful. So it, and we're allowed to go make a corn video 00:02:55 and you don't exactly see the same things in the corn plot. You were Telling me exactly in the corn plot. 00:03:00 I'm seeing something completely different. So, um, guys, I'm gonna take back what I have said to some of these other guys. 00:03:06 I'm really impressed with this CFOs product and uh, even though it has a little smell, I think I can deal with it. 00:03:12 And obviously the plot needs to be taken to yield. It's your first year using the product first year with tidal grow here doing this kind of stuff. 00:03:18 But boy, they sure look good. Let's go make a corn video. Alright, 00:03:22.145 --> 00:03:22.845
