July Crop Duster Application for Plant Health
Kelly Garrett discusses using crop dusters to apply treatments to all acres focusing on plant health and balance while addressing the challenges of calcium supplementation and maintaining high phosphorus levels to maximize crop potential.
00:00 Alright, we're talking about grower standard practice at this time of season, meaning it's mid-July 00:04 and here we are, there's a crop duster behind us. Obviously if you're watching the video you can see that being filled. 00:09 I'm with Kelly Garrett. Um, you've gotten to a point where, and we talk a lot about this extreme ag, 00:14 here's my grower standard practice and this time of year you send out the crop dusters and you go over every acre. What's happening? 00:20 We're trying to achieve balance in the plant. We're trying to achieve plant health. We're putting on 10 00:25 or 11 different things there, you know, have the list. The three important ones to me today and a little bit of a change 00:31 for us are the three agro liquid products, right? Last year we had capital ice, they're potassium product. We had liberate calcium. Of course I'm the calcium guy. 00:40 You know, calcium is the biggest challenge for us because it's just a difficult element to work with. This year we also added pro germ, 00:47 which is agro liquid's, phosphorus product. Last year Evans and I decided at the end of the year 00:52 that our phosphorus fell off too much in the plant. So we're trying to spike that, keep that high With the weather we've had this year, Damien, 00:58 it's potentially the best crop I've ever raised. So the pro germ is in there to try to reach that potential. Alright. One thing that's exciting to me is, uh, 01:05 first off, capitalize that the potassium product and you've got a lot of history with that. Yep. Alright. Why are we putting that on this time of year? 01:11 At the end of the year, if it's the beans or the corn, when our crop is filling, when the kernel is filling 01:16 or the pot is filling in soybeans, there's a big draw, big demand for potassium. We've seen gains over that for the last few years. Okay. 01:23 Pro germ, the, the, the, the, what do we hope to attain by putting that on, We need to keep that phosphorus level high in the plant 01:29 just to achieve that balance. And then The liberate ca uh, Galen in fact has made a big joke that you are Mr. 01:35 Calcium and the thing is, what's interesting is you've got plenty of calcium here. You got calcium your soil, you got calcium, 01:39 your water, yet you apply it. Why Having soil available calcium is a foreign concept to me and I'm constantly needing to supplement it foliar. 01:46 So I have enough in the plant every time we go across the field, we're putting in liberate. 01:50 Got it. Alright. Kelly Garrett talking about gross standard practice going on, you do this on every acre, corn and soybeans. 01:55 Yep. All right. Absolutely. And he was getting ready to take off and go and apply some more of these acres. In fact, we gotta get outta the way. 02:00 4,995 gallon tank load is covering 1200 acres today. That's what's in this tanker right here? Yes. Got it. Till next time. Dam Mason. Coming at you, extreme Ag. 02:08 Kelly Garrett from the Dennis and Iowa Airport. Exciting stuff.
