Farming Video | When to Use Fulvic vs. Humic Acid for Better Crop Performance

1 Jun 251m 50s

At Chad Henderson’s Field Day, Kelly Garrett and agronomist Mark Coots (TEVA) dig into the difference between fulvic and humic acids. Fulvic helps get nutrients into the plant thanks to its small molecular size, while humic supports the soil. They talk about how picking the right tool for the job can help farmers get more out of their inputs and uncover hidden efficiencies in their fertility program.

00:00:00 Hi, this is Kelly Garrett from Extreme Ag. I'm coming to you with Mark Ktz, my good friend, owner of Tiva. 00:00:06 We're in Madison, Alabama today at Chad Henderson's Field Day. Mark and I were in the same tent out here in the plot, 00:00:12 and one of the questions came up with how do you decide if you should use a IC or a fulvic? Mark has a terrific product that's proprietary TIVA that he 00:00:20 and his dad came up with. It's called CA Mark. Why is it important to put a product like Seacat in fur? What does a grower gain from it? 00:00:28 Well, the main thing is, is when you're looking at humic and phobic acids, 00:00:31 the difference is like humic acid is very big molecularly, where fulvic acid is very small molecularly. 00:00:37 So anytime you want something to get into the plant, you want to use a vic acid because it's molecularly small. Trying to use humic acid 00:00:44 to get stuff in the plant is too big. It's like trying to suck up a strawberry through a straw. It can't get there. Now if you want to fix the dirt, 00:00:50 it's good, but they're both carbon sources, so they bulk will help encapsulate, you know, an nitrogen and do the other things that you want to do. 00:00:57 So I always say you want to use a product like CA to fall acid at any time you want something to get into the plant. 00:01:04 So CA will help the other fertility that we have that is plant or applied CA will help get that fertility into the plant. 00:01:10 You have better efficiency of your other input budget. Yeah, a hundred percent. Uh, it's basically like my son says, 00:01:17 it's like turning a two-lane highway into an eight lane highway, a way that fulvic acid does doing it. It also will help free up nutrition in the soil. 00:01:24 When you put fulvic acid there, it will actually help extract phosphate potash and things like that in the soil. 00:01:30 We have te uh, test called a saturated past test that proves that out and shows that kind of stuff, you know, 00:01:35 so there's many benefits that you get out of vic acid. So Anytime we can make the soil 00:01:40 or the fertility more efficient going into the plant, there's gonna be hidden profits that you'll find. 00:01:44.905 --> 00:01:45.125
