Farming Video | Johnny Verell Pushes Wheat Bean Yields with Micronutrients and Smart Timing

27 Aug 251m 49s

In this video, Johnny Verell from XtremeAg walks through his 2025 wheat bean strategy focused on improving yield through smart nutrient timing. After consulting with Tommy, Johnny adjusted his fertility plan to include a micro pack early on, followed by Detour before bloom, and a mix of K-Flex, humic, MoneyBall, and Finish Line at R3. These foliar applications target key growth stages without dramatically increasing input costs. With checks in place and tissue samples on the way, Johnny's field looks strong—and he’s watching closely to see if a late R5 pass is needed to take it across the finish line.

00:00:00 Johnny Verell Extreme Ag. You know, back in the winter I was talking to Tommy and I was saying, look, Tommy, I always have a hard time 00:00:05 making wheat beans yield what I want 'em to yield. And he was asking me what I was doing from a fertility standpoint and I told him, well, most time all the p 00:00:12 and ks put out on the front end on the wheat, we do some foliar stuff in season. We started talking about different ideas there. 00:00:17 He had and he came up with a, he came up with a program he wanted me to do, start to finish. And we've already met a couple applications. 00:00:23 We did a micro pack early on. We came back with Detour early on before Blooming, and now we're getting ready to go into R three. 00:00:30 We're just a few days out on R three here and he has me going out here with some K Flex, which is potassium, some humic 00:00:35 and some other things in there like that. He's got me going out here with Moneyball, which has got Boron, copper, cobalt, 00:00:41 several other micronutrients in it. He's also got me going out here with Finish Line to push it to the end there. 00:00:45 So that's what I'm gonna do on this. And the finish line, of course, it's got more, it's got some nitrogen in it, some phosphorus in it. 00:00:50 I think it's even got some more boron in it. And we're just trying to get a good slug of all the micronutrients 00:00:55 and micronutrients we need to, to finish this crop out and to push it to the end there. We might even come back if things still look good. 00:01:01 This is an irrigated field. The, the wheat beams look phenomenal in it right now. We might even come back with another R five shot. 00:01:07 I'll reach out to Tommy and see what he wants. But basically we're not spending a lot of money. We didn't really do anything extra. 00:01:12 We've got checks out here. There are 240 foot strips going all the way across this field. Just to see what you can do. 00:01:17 If you did do these few extra passes, so there was an extra pass with the micro pass up front. The detour was an extra pass. 00:01:24 But outside of that, this right here is going out with my fungicide timing, so it's gonna be just a standard program just added in with these extra products here. 00:01:31 So overall, everything looks great. We got tissue samples coming back. We'll be able to look at those and see how we're able to, 00:01:36 you know, what we're doing in the plant, how it's, how it's getting into the plant, and see what those levels are doing. 00:01:40 So we'll keep you posted. Stay tuned, 00:01:42.285 --> 00:01:43.405
