Farming Video | Can a Fungicide Control Disease in 3 Straight Years of Corn?

16 Jun 251m 53s

Johnny Verell checks in from his third consecutive year of corn on the same field, where heavy residue and disease pressure are a challenge. He shares how partnering with Vive and using their AZteroid fungicide—known for its 100% in-furrow tank mix compatibility—has helped control disease even after extended corn-on-corn rotation. With replicated plots and great early-season results, Johnny plans to continue monitoring for late-season ROI. The key takeaway? Compatibility and disease protection make all the difference.

00:00:00 Johnny Verell, the extreme Ag. We're out here today looking at some corn, trying to see how some of these products we 00:00:05 put out have been doing this year. And you know, we've had extreme amount of rainfall throughout the year. 00:00:10 This is the third year that this field has actually been planted in corn. So it was planted in corn followed by wheat. 00:00:15 We planted corn behind the wheat and then we came back with corn again this year. So this is three years in a row of corn for us, 00:00:20 which is kind of unusual for us. But you got a tremendous amount of residue out here. There's a lot of disease associated with that residue. 00:00:26 We all know that. And we partner with a company called Crop Vive. And Vive has got several products out there, you know, 00:00:32 that are tank mixable, which is hard to come by for infer. We always run into issues on in furrow, trying to figure out 00:00:37 what we could put in there that won't make cottage cheese. And you start messing with fungicides 00:00:41 and stuff like that is always a real challenge. And they got a fungicide called asteroid that is a hundred percent tank mixable. 00:00:47 It's compatible with anything we put in there. We ran several different things in there with it. This year we did replicated plots across this field here. 00:00:53 We're gonna take it to harvest and see what it's gonna be, but right now it's got great disease control going on. 00:00:58 It'd be great to see how it is late season, how long it lasts and stuff like that. Last year we had great ROI on the product. 00:01:04 It really paid off for us. That's why we stuck it in this environment this year where it's been in corn for multiple years. 00:01:09 We cut this corn open just to check and make sure we're counting the, the leaves, the, you know, see what growth stage it is, right? 00:01:14 And we counted the rings and the corn here and it, it's about V six right now. Probably here in about two weeks at V 10 we're gonna put out 00:01:21 some more nutrients and stuff like that and probably do a wide drop, put out a little more nitrogen on this corn here 00:01:25 and we'll keep you posted, give you some updates throughout the year. But right now the disease control looks great in it. 00:01:30 There's really nothing going on in the plant. We usually have problems late season, so we're gonna see how this product works late season for us 00:01:36 and keep, continue giving you updates about it. But like I said, right now it looks good. And the big thing I always go back to when we work 00:01:42 with five is how everything they have is compatible in an infirm mix. 00:01:46.325 --> 00:01:47.685
