Farming Video | Is Your Corn Missing a Mid-Season Boost? Chad Henderson Tests It

13 Jun 26

A weather delay changed the timing of Chad Henderson's corn trial, creating a chance to evaluate whether a mid-season fertility pass can help prepare corn for pollination and reproductive growth.

00:00 Hey y'all, let's talk about one of the trials we're doing with XtremeAg. Let's get started. So this is an AgroLiquid trial, and we wanted to make an 00:00:06 application anywhere say V5 to V8. Well, the weather got me. But we're still looking into places that we can do that at. So we made this application, we were somewhere around V8 to V10, 00:00:19 and with that application, we had a gallon of FertiRain, we had a gallon of SureK, and we had a half a gallon of Micro 500. 00:00:27 So we were in that V10 range when we done this application because the weather got us. But still, that's a great spot to be because we can add a little bit of boron in 00:00:37 there also, and we can set this plant up for pollination, set it up for the reproductive phases that it's fixing to go through right in 00:00:44 another week or so, 10 days roughly. But the product will be in the plant. So we're looking to see how this outcomes. 00:00:53 I think it's going to be a good trial because it has a really good placement where all of our sprayers can still get through it right there. 00:00:58 We can add that in also, even because it was a little bit late, we can add that in with a really good, maybe a generic fungicide if you don't want to go with 00:01:06 something like a Veltyma or a Trivapro early, and we want to come back with maybe a Quad or Headline amp, something to set that plant up to go 00:01:13 into where it's headed to. So when you talk about the application we made, I think this is a good spot to put that out because a lot of times we get in a 00:01:21 lull of being this V4 to V5 riding with herbicide, right? And we're trying to get that out and we're putting this Micro in. 00:01:26 Yes, that's a great spot to be, but what about what happens with the plant between this V5 and VT? A lot of times we may need just 00:01:34 a little bit something in the middle of that, especially if you've got a really good corn crop going. It's a good place for that generic fungicide. 00:01:41 It's a good place for a good primer, as we would like to call it a lot of times, with the fertility that is setting it up to go to the next step. 00:01:48 So we'll keep you posted. We've got some good trial work coming. 00:01:53.460 --> 00:01:54.080
