Farming Video | How Johnny Verell Speeds Up Wheat Harvest for Higher ROI

11 Jul 251m 19s

Johnny Verell takes us into wheat harvest season, where he shares how his team maximizes efficiency during one of the busiest times of year. Running three or four combines, they’re beating the rain by harvesting faster thanks to upgraded Estes Performance Concaves. The result? Better grain quality, slower rotor speeds, and the ability to cover more acres each day. Johnny highlights why every mile per hour matters when managing large-scale operations and how small changes can make a big difference to ROI.

00:00:00 Johnny Verell, the stream Ag. We're out here today harvesting wheat and this is one of the, you know, in my opinion, one 00:00:04 of the best times of the year, there's a lot of things going on. We're able to harvest plant spray all at the same time. 00:00:09 So there's a lot of moving parts. We're out here harvesting wheat and the moisture's running anywhere from 15 00:00:14 to 13% right now. We've been running for three or four days now. So moisture's coming on down 00:00:19 and you know, for us it's all about beating the rain. There's another, we've had an extremely wet year this year. Rain's coming in here in another day 00:00:25 or two, supposed to rain for almost a week off and on. So we're trying to get everything done we can before this rain. 00:00:30 And so, you know, talking to some of the guys a few years ago, extreme mag, they're like, man, you need to try this, this concaves, 00:00:34 they'll really make you more efficient, better grain quality, stuff like that. And so we started buying, said some over the last few years 00:00:40 and we run 'em in all of our combines now. And the main reason we're running 'em, of course the grain quality's better, 00:00:44 your rotor's going slower, but the speed we're able to harvest and so we're able to run a mile per hour faster on average. 00:00:49 And so that's a big deal when you're running three, four combines like we are right now. And so being able to get over 00:00:54 that much more ground in a day, 'cause it adds up at the end of the week and just efficiency's key, that's 00:00:58 where it is right now in farming. Whoever's most efficient is gonna be able to survive. And people don't think about what you can do at harvest 00:01:04 or just going by, you know, an extra mile per hour faster. 40 foot heads extra mile per hour faster adds up in a day. 00:01:09 So it all goes to our ROI 00:01:11.235 --> 00:01:13.795
