Chad Henderson from XtremeAg is diving into uncharted waters—canola. It’s a brand-new crop for Henderson Farms, and Chad’s not pretending to have all the answers. In fact, he’s flat-out asking for help. They seeded the field using a 1990 drill at about 3 to 3.5 pounds per acre, sealed it with herbicide, and put out two tons of chicken litter. They're holding back on extra fertility until spring and counting on fellow farmers to chime in.

00:00:00 Hey y'all, this is Chet Henderson with Extreme Ag and we're gonna talk just a second about our canola. That's about all I know about canola. 00:00:07 So this is view for us on Henderson Farms. We've never grown this crop, so we're gonna lean on all y'all around us, make sure 00:00:13 that we get, you know, we're gonna need some feedback on this. I can promise you we planted this on 00:00:18 with a seven half inch drill, 1990 drill. We planted approximately three to three and a half pounds if you could understand three 00:00:25 and a half pound with a controlled spill drill. But no, it, it done a real good job. I was real pleased with how the drill done. 00:00:32 So we're, um, we're looking forward to this crop. We planted it, we put a herbicide out on it and kind of sealed the ground over. 00:00:39 And then we're gonna run from there. We're gonna hold off on a lot of fertility. We do have two ton of chicken litter on it, 00:00:45 and then we're gonna hold off on the rest, fertility, fertility to the spring. So it'll be real interesting. 00:00:50 We're gonna keep y'all posted and stay with step by step man. We're gonna need some help. Y'all need 00:00:54 to hit me up in the comments. Y'all like, y'all gotta help me with this thing because I'm running blind over here 00:00:59 and you know, this only crop I ain't killed. And when you get to look at me like, man, I could kill this canola. 00:01:04 Like just a little bit of it anyway. Like, I wonder what two pounds of boron would do. So, man, I wonder if you can get it too high to blow down. 00:01:11 Yep. So anyway, we're gonna have fun with this. 00:01:15.515 --> 00:01:18.175
