Farming Video | Cotton Disease Control Trial in Arkansas Fields

29 Sep 252m 54s

Matt Miles of XtremeAg gives us a look inside his latest cotton lab where he’s testing Spectra, a biostimulant from Tidal Grow. The trial uses different application timings to see how well Spectra holds up in real-world conditions—especially in the fight against target spot, one of cotton’s most stubborn diseases. Spectra’s designed to work alongside fungicides, using a component called caite to thin out disease cell walls and boost plant defenses. With harvest just around the corner, Matt says the crop looks strong—but like always, the proof’s in the picker.

00:00:00 So guys, this is Matt Miles with Extreme Ag and I'm in our title Grow lab that we had this year on Cotton. 00:00:07 And, uh, you know, the things we've done on this lab is, has been pretty cool. We did multiple applications at different timings just 00:00:15 to see what, you know, title Grow would do. Title Grove is a new company that, uh, we are working with this year and, you know, 00:00:22 we gotta see results of what's going on. So they have a bio stimulant products that we use. And the, the product we're using here mainly 00:00:30 is gonna be Spectra. And Spectra is a bio stimulant. And a bio stimulant is something that's kind of new to agriculture. 00:00:38 Kinda like pgs were, you know, 10 years ago and the farm economy we're in today, we gotta figure out if these products work. 00:00:46 And so that's, that's the reason for this lab and to see what's going on. So we all know a single product never, always works or, 00:00:55 or, you know, it won't work forever. So, you know, there's resistance to different things and, um, you know, this is a bio stimulant that, 00:01:02 that we can kinda use to aid our fungicide. Fungicides are, they're good, I don't get me wrong, they're good, but they, they have their place 00:01:11 and this bio stimulant, it adds to that. And it's, it's a whole different way of, a whole different mode of, of trying 00:01:19 to protect from diseases. This product here has caite in it, which is, you know, it actually thins the cell walls of the disease 00:01:28 and allows this product to come in and, and kind of protect from that disease. So, like I said, nothing lasts forever 00:01:36 and we have to figure out some different products all the time. And this is a product that we're working with this year 00:01:41 to see if it can kind of aid with the, with the, uh, synthetic fungicide and also aid with that 00:01:51 and give us an opportunity to maybe do a better job. Uh, the biggest diseases we have in cotton is target spot. So target spot is something we deal 00:01:59 with a lot of different times. You know, this year wasn't as, it wasn't as bad as most years, but we still had some. 00:02:06 So, you know, we're gonna pick this tomorrow. Uh, this, this lab will be picked tomorrow and it, it looks pretty impressive. 00:02:13 So we'll see what goes on. Again, I can't say enough about the testing we do with Extreme Ag. 00:02:19 Like I said, this is a bio stimulant and bio stimulus just hit the market in the last few years. And, you know, the farmer's gotta know, is this something 00:02:28 that's worth doing or is it something that's gonna, you know, just we're gonna spend money on. 00:02:34 You hear the word snake oils all the time and we're trying to prove that this is not a snake oil, that a bio stimulant is something we need 00:02:41 to use just like we did with the PGRs. And we get through with this test, get through 00:02:45.895 --> 00:02:48.135
