00:00:00 Hi, this is Kelly Garrett with XT Extreme Ag. I'm sitting here with my good friend and partner, Mike Evans, 00:00:05 my agronomist at Integrated Egg Solutions. We're going over some trial data, and we're looking at the technology from New Leaf, 00:00:12 specifically TS 2 0 1 CRW technology. That's quite a name. When we're talking about a product like that, uh, I gotta make sure that I get it all straight. 00:00:23 It's, uh, it's Rootworm technology. Um, it's one of the trials that I thought, this isn't gonna work. 00:00:29 This is snake oil. I was surprised. And, uh, very simply, I'm, I'm excited to use it again next year, and I'm bigger trial. 00:00:36 Mike, what do you think? Yeah, it was an interesting, uh, concept when they brought it to us. 00:00:42 You know, using what they call their ppms or their, uh, pink in a bag, I call it, uh, stuff to help protect against rootworms is kind of a new concept. 00:00:53 You know, we've messed with insecticides in furrow, you know, seen 'em work pretty good, but concerned of overusing them. 00:01:01 So we wanted to look at different, got us an opportunity, I guess, to look at something new and unique, 00:01:05 and I was excited to see that, but a little leery of it as well. Yeah, it, it sure isn't the, uh, 00:01:11 a traditional type product like we would use for rootworm protection. The visual look of the plants early on, mid-season, 00:01:19 and then the yield results. Uh, you knew all along, you knew, we knew all season that it, we thought it was gonna come out as a, 00:01:25 a yield positive and an ROI, and it did, uh, you know, the root development, the plant development early on there was a visual 00:01:31 difference, the beginning of the R stages. Mm-hmm. You know, V 10 to R one, uh, the size of the plant, the look of the plant, the look of the roots. 00:01:39 Um, there was a visual dism. You could tell that, that it was, it was offering some protection 00:01:44 to the rootworms, things like that. And, and then the four bushel yield gain that it came back with. 00:01:50 I, uh, I thought it was disappointing from what I saw out there in the season, you know, and we, we just had this in a small plot, uh, 00:01:58 in our test plot for our field day. I'm not a huge fan of plot data. I think we need to get it out there on 10 00:02:03 or 15 acres at at least, and I believe that it would've come back as a bigger positive then. 00:02:09 Yeah, I think, you know, talking with the PE guys in New Leaf, like Chris and Mike and the people we've discussed with, um, 00:02:15 in the last couple months, they've seen better results out in the country on bigger plots and stuff 00:02:21 and in heavier pressure areas. But even like where we had, it wasn't a very heavy pressure rootworm, right? 00:02:25 We're not really in a center of the world's worst root room. We have some here and there, but overall it's not that big. 00:02:32 But it, it kind of shows that what else the benefits of that product bring to the root health and the overall vigor of the plant. 00:02:39 And to your point of being in a bigger area, probably we get a better data set and better ROI outta that product. 00:02:45 A hundred percent agree with that. Yeah, I, uh, I'm obviously gonna be a hundred percent corn next year, or 99% corn next year. 00:02:53 And I, I believe everything we can do to protect that root system, we should do. I'm not, as, you know, I'm not a huge fan of traded corn. 00:03:00 I want as few a traits as possible because I think that leads to more yield potential. But, but then we have to, uh, 00:03:06 we've gotta protect our environment. And rootworm protection is exactly what I'm talking about. Different modes of action. 00:03:12 This is something that I'm really excited to use in the future. Yeah. And I, we're gonna get on more of your acres next year. 00:03:17 We got, you know, we did some soil sampling and through that soil sampling, they measure rootworm eggs and stuff in the, in the ground. 00:03:25 And, and so we got some field, you got some fields that got some more higher pressure than the other ones. Definitely wanna put it out there to protect against that 00:03:31 and see what it can perform in a little bit, uh, more susceptible environment. Well, I'm excited to use the new Leaf technology 00:03:37 next year, and we'll see what happens. 00:03:39.185 --> 00:03:39.405
