Evaluating Corn Growth and Stalk Integrity with a New Bio-Stimulant and Bio-Insecticide

00:00:00 Hey guys. It's Temple from Extreme Ag. So we got Allison here from New Leaf today. Um, we went out and we took some, we did some root digs. 00:00:07 We've seen some pretty amazing stuff out there that, to be honest with you, I didn't know that we were gonna see that big of a difference. 00:00:13 We saw some differences early in the year. Definitely. And it was root mass. I didn't, at that time I didn't see biomass, um, 00:00:20 'cause the plants were too small. But here we are kind of at the end, we're gonna, we're we can really see some differences here. 00:00:27 So what do you feel like is going on? Well, we have your field trial of new leaf symbiotics, TS 2 0 1 corn Rootworm, EPA registered bio insecticide 00:00:37 with our Terra Sim four 50 corn Bio stimulant went on as a planter box treatment. Yeah. And we're late in the season now 00:00:45 and still seeing some interesting changes in, in plant phenotype. Honestly, when you first brought this out to me, 00:00:52 you know, there's a couple things. So you bring it out here, it comes in this little teeny bag. And I know that it's a planter box treatment, 00:00:59 but this is just your one technology that we put on to our stuff. It was like two tiny sandwich bags 00:01:06 and you were like, Hey, mix them two together, put it evenly on 10 bags of corn. I'm like, holy crap, how am I gonna do this? 00:01:12 So what we did is we put 10 bags of corn in a box, in a planter box, and then we took and mixed it on there. And I took a paint stir on a cordless drill 00:01:21 and we mixed it up really well. We put it on and to, truthfully, I thought that it, it did a really good job. 00:01:27 I felt like it was very evenly treated. And then when we went out back in the spring when we first, you guys first came out and we did root dig, 00:01:34 I wouldn't let you do the root dig. I don't, he wouldn't. I, I, I don't, I don't like anybody else to do the root dig 00:01:39 because human nature is to go out there and you get focused on how well this looks. So I don't like anybody else to do our root digs. 00:01:47 I don't like anybody else to go out there and cherry pick. So I try to do all that myself. 00:01:50 And we go evenly, like we'll go seven rows over from this way in the check and seven rows over that way. 00:01:57 So we're in the exact same kind of dirt. It is the exact same row that is planting it. Yep. In case you have a row problem. 00:02:03 And we did the exact same thing again today. And here again, we come up with the exact same results as we came up with before. 00:02:12 I'm super impressed by this. And You gotta remember, these microbes are tiny but mighty. There are 1 billion of them per gram of powder. 00:02:19 So you're really packing a big punch with a, a small volume of product. Yeah. I'm observing larger stalk diameter, 00:02:27 possibly even stronger stalks. Obviously the root biomass kind of slaps you in the face there 00:02:32 and not just the overall biomass, but as you mentioned out in the field, the, the quality of the root. 00:02:37 So the amount of fine roots, the way that those roots are exploring the soil profile and getting access to all the nutrients in there. 00:02:44 That's really what I'm seeing. And even in the field, we observed a height difference. Yeah. Uh, that's something I've rarely observed at this late 00:02:51 in this season to be able to Do that. Well, you know, talking about biomass, you know, think about 00:02:54 what this would mean to the guy that is, you know, um, got dairy cows or beef cows and he's chopping solid. That could be a massive play here. 00:03:03 You know, we're not just talking about selling kernels. There's other ways that guys get stuff outta biomass. There's a tremendous amount 00:03:10 of biomass difference between these two. We talk about root structure, root quality, and my environment. 00:03:16 I need to make every ounce count. So this is gonna help me make every ounce count. You know, this is my grower standard. 00:03:22 Don't, don't be ragging on me too bad, bad I won't. Okay. But that's, we've done well with that. 00:03:27 What I'm really excited about, we live in hurricane alley out here. You know, even in the Midwest they got de ratio winds. Yep. 00:03:35 You start to play with this stalk quality and these plants, this thing has got a tremendous amount of stalk quality and this one does not. 00:03:42 I mean, you can pinch it and it's soft. I mean, we actually broke the plants down somewhat when we were getting 'em outta the field. 00:03:49 So we're starting to have some stalk integrity problems, especially this year, what we've gone through 00:03:54 with heat stress drought. Even though this is irrigated, we're still having some stalk issues out there. 00:04:00 So this shows a tremendous amount of plant health to me versus my grower standard practice that I am really worried about plant health all the time. 00:04:11 And I think that we've done a good job out there, but from what we're seeing so far, I'm super excited. I don't know what to expect from, you know, here on out. 00:04:21 But I, a few minutes ago I was talking to you about, you know, when we start to take ear counts, you know, you can look at the ear over there versus the ear over here. 00:04:28 Not that much difference. But when you look at the color of the quality of the green is different over here versus that. 00:04:36 So what are you seeing here? Well, I mean, it is 43 kernels more per ear. So, Oh, here we go. Here we go. 00:04:44 I mean, you walked me through that, that color difference as an indication of, uh, 00:04:48 potentially higher test weight as well. So that's fantastic to See. And the other thing 00:04:52 that we picked up on is, you know, my grower standard practice, even though when we went in the field, you 00:04:57 and I were talking about, and we felt like my corn wasn't maturing as quite as fast as what yours was. 00:05:03 I felt like yours was maturing harder. You Can see that from the lowest sleeves. Yeah. But when you come down to it, it isn't in this ear 00:05:09 because this is still, this has barely got any dents in at all. And I'm in almost, I'm in full dent over there. Yeah. 00:05:16 So that's a massive difference to me. I mean, that's a big difference in quality and test weight. And it takes it right to the green tank in the end 00:05:25 of the year that that overall yield is what it's gonna pay. So for me, I know that we don't have a lot of, you know, 00:05:31 rootworm issues and things out there that you guys are dealing with. I'm concerned about this. I saw one corn rootworm adult beetle at your field day, 00:05:39 but just one no surface feeding. Really, this I would classify as zero corn rootworm pressure. 00:05:45 But that's what we love about this product is it's an insurance policy in case you do have corn rootworm pressure, but you're still gonna see the benefits even 00:05:53 if you don't have the pressure. I see. Stress mitigation, I see drought tolerance, I see grain quality. 00:06:01 I see stalk integrity. That's what I see. I love it. I can't not wait to see what this looks like in your yield data. 00:06:08 Well, we're probably, um, we're probably 10 days to two weeks out. This corn will still be green 00:06:14 because it was highly intensively managed. Mm-Hmm. You know, if we went and tested this right now, it's probably 26, 20 7%. 00:06:21 But it still looks like when you go out there, it's still black, green. Yeah. So I mean, as you see, I mean, it's very green. 00:06:27 So we're gonna be out there in probably 10 days or two weeks. It'll be below 24 by that point. 00:06:32 So we're gonna know soon enough.
