Kelly Garrett has learned a lot about his soil this year from working with Mike Evans from Integrated Ag Solutions and Jason and Bodie from Next Level Ag. Perhaps most important is the key learning that soil fertility needs soil energy in order to create plant available nutrients. In this member video, Kelly talks about his plan to create more energy in the soil before planting season.
In the spring of 2020, Kelly Garrett saw an opportunity to maximize the value of his acres by monetizing the carbon credits he had accrued from his sustainable field management practices. Teaming up with Locus Agricultural Solutions and their CarbonNow program, Kelly became the first farmer to get paid for his carbon credits. In this video, Kelly talks with Shane Head from Locus Ag about the CarbonNow program.
Dan shows us a simple way to free wheel the elevator chain on his John Deere 9770 combine without needing to turn the entire machine. He also uses the opportunity to show how he sets his return elevator chain drive to prevent bearing burnout by reducing torque on the drive.
Grain loss can add up to money lost for farmers. There are a number of different areas on a combine where grain loss can occur. In This member video, Kevin performs a power-stop Loss check in his S680. He talks combine settings and shows us all of the different places he checks for grain loss starting with the area right under the head and moving back. Find the problem areas and keep that money in your pocket, not in your field.
Proactive crop management is essential to keeping crop diseases from becoming yield limiting or even yield-killing factors. In this member video, Kevin and Chad explain how to identify some of the more common corn leaf diseases including gray leaf spot, northern leaf blight, southern leaf blight, common and southern rust, and tar spot.
