Matt Miles is no stranger to the weather challenges that come with farming in the delta. His season-long battle with high heat, wetness and dryness was capped off this week with the arrival of Hurricane Laura.
It was a challenge for Chad to plant corn into wheat and soybean double-crop stubble as the soil would not dry out enough in time for March/April planting due to the leftover crop residue from the previous season's double-crop. Chad found a solution with a modified strip-freshener he built.
Matt has always been skeptical as to the real ROI of aftermarket concaves when compared to the factory concaves on his John Deere combines. This year he is running a few in-field comparison tests to see how the new XPR2 Concaves compare to the OEM Concaves in terms of yield loss, combine speed and ROI.
While checking out some of the neighboring crops this week, Dan stops to do a little Irrigating with his phone using the AgSense mobile app. Dan Luepkes is The Remote Irrigator.
Mark Coots stops by to visit the Arkansas State Soybean Yield Record Holder to talk about the different TEVA Biologicals and Soil Amendments that he uses on his contest soybeans including C-CAT, TEVA Traces, MMTS and Complex.
All that mud and flooding put the 360 Yield Center tanks to the test this spring. Did they pass the test Kevin?
Kevin shares a few of his favorite Hefty Corn Hybrids and talks about his 4x2x4 and In-Furrow mix.
Matt Miles farms on raised beds with furrow irrigation. Keeping those beds healthy is where the Level Bander comes in. A truly specialized piece of farm equipment.
If you keep some older equipment around like Dan does, then you are probably very familiar with the leaky older style hydraulic couplers. You probably also are aware that there just never seems to be a good fix that lasts. Dan shares your pain, and is here to tell you about a conversion kit that has finally put an end to the leaky coupler problem.
