Chad Henderson is a student of farming. He is always putting his test acres through rigorous conditions and new applications to see how the crop performs. So, when XtremeAg partner, Agroliquid, stopped by Chad's place to talk about some test plots they wanted him to run this year, well...it was pretty much a no-brainer. Here is what Chad will be looking at this year from Agroliquid.
Dan comes up with some of his best ideas on rainy days. Today he has enlisted the help of his son to test the connections and flow rates of his planter's fertility system. Better to find a problem in the shop than in the field.
Last week we had a call with Jason Schley from Next Level Ag in South Dakota. We were looking at some soil samples we pulled a few weeks ago; they ran them through their lab and learned a lot of information, including a few things we hadn’t seen before. One of the questions that came up in that call was “what is our soil pH at varying depths?”
In this video, Dan shares a unique way that he developed to solubilize Copper Sulfate before application. He utilizes the homemade method as a way to extend the coverage of his supply of copper sulfate when input prices are high and dry spreading is not feasible.
Kelly Garrett talks about the Hefty soybean varieties and maturity levels he is planting this month and the various BASF seed treatments that he is excited to try this year including Obvius Plus disease protection and Flo Rite, a new polymer treatment that aims to increase drop accuracy and improve overall plantability with optimized stand counts. Kelly also talks about key learnings as it relates to soybean populations and managing skips and doubles.
If you know Matt Miles, then you know that Matt seems to always be struggling with extreme weather conditions. Wet, dry, hot, cold, snow, tornados and hurricanes, Miles Farms has seen it all in their little southeast corner of Arkansas. All the more reason that Matt needs his young corn to be well protected and well nourished when it makes its way out of the ground. Matt is putting together a cocktail of products from Concept Agri-Tek this year that he thinks will be the perfect mix for his crop.
Kelly Garrett and Nathan King from Van Wall Equipment walk though the maintenance requirements of the latest John Deere spray rig with ExactApply technology. In this video, they discuss maintenance recommendations and the unique features that differentiate ExactApply from the conventional spray systems, including the system's pulse width modulation technology.
Matt Miles stripped down his 2015 chain driven planter and installed new parts from Precision Planting. He could have bought a new planter, but he thinks the ROI on this Precision Planting upgrade will be a better investment for his farm.
The first components of Dan's new pivot from Valley Irrigation have arrived at his farm in Northern Illinois. He is replacing an older pivot with a new one that includes some of the newest state of the art technology for monitoring irrigation and the crop. Stay tuned as Dan breaks down the new technology during the install and throughout the entire season of farming.
