The XtremeAg team will each discuss a problem, solution, big idea, new technology, area of focus, or new methodology they’re implementing this spring. Our industry expert presenter will be Robb Dedman of Ultimate Ag Consulting. As usual, Robb and the XA guys will be accessible for questions, explanations, and deeper dives into the subject matter during this interactive event. Join us for insights and inspiration to make your farm prosper!
Kelly talks with Netafim's Tim Wolf about how his entire perspective on soil health, nutrients, fertility and biologicals has changed over the last 5 years since first installing drip irrigation on his farm. More than just water, Kelly has used the system to alter PH and improve the soil environment dramatically. The results show in the higher yields he has attained since installing his systems.
Dan utilizes Pivots from Valley and Netafim Drip Irrigation, and he could not be more thankful this year. Dan takes a look at his irrigated corn and the differences in irrigated versus non-irrigated.
It has been a rough year for Dan. The season started with a frost on May 30 that stunted and killed some of his corn, then extreme drought conditions persisted all summer, and then the winds came and blew down part of his corn. Not to mention an invasion of pests and then the threat of Tar Spot. Still, the crop looks pretty good considering the year he has had. Dan shares three reasons why.
Dan is looking at some corn in his pivot field and he is seeing something he doesn't really like: an uneven watering pattern. He thinks he knows what the problem is.
In most of the corn and soybean growing regions, we envision center pivots when we think of irrigation. But in an Ag world impacted increasingly by environmental forces compelling us to till less and drastically reduce resource consumption, we may utilize more drip irrigation. Dan Luepkes explains the Netafim drip irrigation system he uses to set yield records on his Illinois farm. You’ll see command central, the distribution infrastructure, and head in field to see the results.
Kelly invites Trey Curtis, founder of Concept Agritek into his office to discuss farming strategies, ROI, foliar applications, heat stress, and some of the products he is using this year.
Dan talks with Jeff from North Central Irrigation, the local Valley Irrigation dealership, about the new technology that will be on his pivot. Valley Insights uses cameras that are mounted on the pivot to monitor crop progress, pests and disease.
Dan's new pivot from Valley Irrigation is up and running and boy does he need it with the heat and dry weather that his area of the midwest has been experiencing. Utilizing Valley's precision corner technology, he is able to precisely manage water distribution to prevent overspray on to roads and overlap with other pivots. Dan explains more.
